Would you buy a less expensive iPhone?
Apple may build less expensive iPhone. It is said that Apple could lower the iPhone's price by equipping device with an exterior that costs less than the aluminum housing on current models.
Would you like to buy a less expensive iPhone ? |

Depends what was left out. I would need to have a browser, email, iMessage, iPod, ability to use all apps in the app store, social media interface. All the stuff I would expect on my normal iphone.

I'd never say never. It all depends on what the phone was like and what was missing/cut down etc

No, at the end of the day it would still be an Apple product and subject to all sorts of silly restrictions.

No, it's still IOS and Apple, The price would not be a consideration. If I wanted their product I would buy a 5.
I'm sure there is a market for it out there, but, I think that the budget Androids will just raise their game, which would be good. |

I think it would show everyone that you can't afford a proper iPhone and are poor.
its similar to buying a Porsche Boxster instead of a 911 |

I don't see what features they can take out of the iPhone in order that they make it cheaper. it would have to run iOS and that is where the function lies. iOS is already pretty poor. the margin on the iPhone is so high the key differentiator would have to be simply that it was cheaper. may as well just release it with an unremovable sticker saying cheapo version and sell it with smaller margin. As neither android or iOS offer anything that separates them I would chose a phone on its merits. As the current gossip is that they are talking about a bigger screen, I would have to see it as I think phone screens have already got too big.

No I wouldnt. The phone would still probably cost more than the N4/S3/OneX+, yet be inferior. To be honest the iphone5 is inferior to the three phones mentioned above (in terms of hardware specs), so the cheaper version would be a lot worse.
As for things they would cut out, an inferior screen, smaller screen, cheaper casing, iOS would have key features removed like Siri, facetime, etc. |

Apple do make cheaper phones already. The iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S. In a couple of years the iPhone 5 will be the bottom of the range handset.
This stratergy is quite clever. When you see an iPhone you either think "hey, that is the latest iPhone" or "hey, that is an older iPhone". You don't think "oh, thats a cheap iPhone". But who knows - maybe there is a market but a brand that values it's premium image would only cheapen it if it realesed a phone worse than the iPhone 4. Would I want one? I would rather pick contaminated sharps out of a hospital sink with my teeth than own any iPhone at any price. |

It's remarks like this that stop me buying Apple.I refuse to participate in the marketing games of one upmanship and device snobbery that Apple propagates.
I'm an unemployed loser with a dumb PAYG. It was just a stupid comment out of boredom

I cannot see any difference to many, many other brands. I definitely wouldn't let what others think decide what I buy

I don't think they'd remove facetime. all the iStuff, messaging, facetime etc is one of their key marketing ideas.

Also I would guess on the budget version you would get apple maps, whilst on the the premium phone you would get google maps.

Its a silly comparison because apple just aren't any where near Porsche's engineering expertise. They are just great at marketing.
![]() I've not seen an Apple designed car, but I have seen a Porsche designed phone. I think I would leave the phone designing to Apple

I wouldn't. Although the price would be lower, it would still be an inferior product to many of the leading Android smartphones. Once again, this appears to be a reactionary measure to try and claw back some market-share from Google.

You do spout tripe at times. find me an independent review of smartphones that doesn't put the iPhone in the top 5 - hardly 'crap'
by any objective standard the porsche boxster is regarded as a competent car in it's own right. the full sized 911 by any objective standard is regarded as one of the best. even the most ardent fanboi knows that the iPhone 5 is no very good compared to the competition, it has been discussed on here many times that it is not even as good as the nearly-two-year-old galaxy s2 that retails at half the price. it is difficult to see how much apple can cut from an already inferior product to take it down to the price territory of say the S2 when the iP5 is already not as good. surely this is obvious? http://radorecdn.bobiler.org/upload/...4476356050.jpg |

Can't see the point of iphones. Android does it all and more and you don't have to mess about with itunes to put your music etc. on the thing.
