Jacket potato with tuna AND baked beans?
rewind
10-01-2013
In a previous thread in the Advice forum I asked if a jacket potato was a healthy lunch option. I was having it with butter, grated cheese and baked beans.

Now I am having it minus the butter but instead of having cheese and beans all the time, today I had it with tuna mayonnaise to be a bit more healthy. It was okay, a bit dry, but not too bad.

The girl said do I want baked beans with the tuna? Really? Do those two things go together?

We only have the following available at work:

Plain
Butter
Cheese
Baked Beans
Tuna
Pesto Chicken

So was wondering if tuna and baked beans could work?!

Of course they would. Eat what you want, if you don't like it, don't try it again. Tuna and pesto chicken sounds challenging but it could work. Remember, some people have fish fingers and custard!

Well according to my sister when she was younger yes that's very yummy. She would only eat things with custard poured over so beef and custard on sundays, fish fingers and custard on fridays. Salad day was challenging for us all beetroot with custard always looked so awful !

It's a tasty combination for me..We've had tuna and beans on a baked potato many times and with mash too.My son likes to mix the mash, tuna and beans together on his plate

Never tried it but it could work.
Seen pasta with tomato sauce and tuna/anchovies.

Also had pizza with tuna on before. Again, tomato sauce base.

Don't know why I said seen. I've actually had it

It was a puttanesca with added tuna steak. It was very nice indeed.

When I was younger, a favourite of mine was a tin of John West red salmon, plonked on a plate, and smothered in hot baked beans

Delicious!

I often have my jacket potato with tuna and beans and cheese totally naughty I know but that is usually when I am having it as my main meal and not usually having anything else. Its fine and tastes nice IMO.

Sometimes I will put the beans in a bowl at the side rather than smothering them over though and just have the tuna and cheese and then have beans with what is left over.

That said that is not with tuna mayonnaise its just plain tuna out of the tin. So it might be a bit strange tuna mayo with beans but as others have said give it a try.

Sometimes the best food comes out of trying strange combinations I know some of the strangest things that have come out of my kitchen have turned out to be the nicest.

I would have tuna and beans but not tuna mayo and beans. I doubt tuna mayo is much healthier than cheese and beans really though, depending how much cheese you have.

Whenever we make baked potatoes, we have coleslaw out, butter, baked beans, tuna mayonnaise, cheese and salad. Have a bit of each.

I'd say yes to Tuna and Beans, but NO to Tuna Mayo and baked beans.

I've had Tuna in tomato sauces with Pasta and it tastes great.
