I do enjoy shows set in earlier times, such as The Royal, Mad Men, when women were not seen bare-legged. It was simply not the done thing. Contrast that with shows like Sex and the City which pioneered the bare-legs-in-all weathers-look. Personally I think that look is undignified at best and slovenly at worst; though I am sure I am in the minority with that opinion.
