Corrie; Audrey and Gail
I think these characters do not need to be in The soap anymore.
I think if Audrey leaves (goes on holiday, leaves the Street) then Kylie and David can take over the hairdressers, this will help them to receive money and move to another house in the street. Then Gail will not be needed as she will be the only one in the house.Goodbye Gail! ![]() Audrey and Gail haven't had a interesting storyline. This SL with Lewis is disgusting, I don't think there is anyone on this forum who likes seeing them together

If anything, I think we've had too much on the younger ones lately. |

I like seeing Gail and Lewis together because I want to see what he intends to do and how she will react, along with Audrey. Why is it disgusting? This is how Lewis behaves with women in order to make money. He obviously doesn't fancy Gail.

You've got to have Gail in Corrie - who else can interfere with such passion?

Gail is a brilliant character, purely because everyone knows a Gail. It's those types of characters that make the programme more realistic, likewise with Eileen, Sally etc.

I don't mind Audrey. I dislike Gail. Her simpering and OTT attitude towards her precious boys is quite frankly weird. It beggars belief that David and Kylie would stay with her when she's constantly poking her nose in.
Also I think it's a bit unrealistic that she would go after her Mums sloppy seconds this way. It wasn't so long ago she hated Lewis! |

Aud & claud need another comeback, they were too funny on the hunt for marcia.
I could live without Gail though. |

I think they are both strong characters. I wouldn't want them to leave.

Personally I think they're the strongest characters out of all of the long-termers, they're solid performers both acting and story-wise. The writers are never stuck for material for long for the Potter women. The Street wouldn't be the same without either of them.
There's nothing like an emotional scene from Sue Nicholls either. God that woman knows how to break your heart! |

No! Audrey and Gail are fabulous. They're incredibly watchable characters and are always written so brilliantly. I can't wait for the fallout of this Lewis storyline just for Audrey's reaction - it'll be priceless.

I'm a big fan of Aud & Gail too.
Axing them would be unthinkable. |

It annoys me how underappreciated Gail is, it really does.

Gail and Audrey are incredible.
Audrey for me is the most interesting of the elderly cast members. She is there for her family through and through yet she recgonizes the bad qualities in them, she loves them but she will tell them where to go - I loved the way she went up against David and Kylie in the salon war. She also still tirelessly seeks love and romance, and her storyline with Lewis was fantastic! he cheated on her (also the Audrey/Claudia dynamic during this SL was super), but yet they did fall in love, even against her family and it was sad when they broke up as they were fantastically matched, but most of all I LOVE her relationship with Gail, she better then anyone can say 'SHURRUP GAIL LOOK AT THE STATE OF UR!' - she is fantastic and so underrated! Gail is also fantastic. Her dysfunctional ever forgiving attitude with her boys is car crash tv at its best, her soldeiring ever defending attitude for her family has provided countless comedy gold moments - especially with her nemisis Eileen - what was that line 'Oh look its the village peope!' to Jason and Todd - that is simply classic Corrie. And the recent meddling with Nick and Leanne when she is so obviously yet obliviously for Gail getting under Nicks skin - its just brilliant. Audrey and Gail (and the Platts as a whole) are fantasic and long may Audrey and Gail reign as Weatherfields finest matriarchs!

Especially the whining brat Sy / Simon. |

Another vote here for Gail and Audreh. They are great, long serving characters and long may they reign on the Street.

I've been on the brink of not watching lately, if Audreh and Gail left though that would tip me over. The only good storyline is Gail/Audrey/Lewis and wondering what Lewis is going to deal Gail. Please keep them, Gail is wholly unlikeable but a must for the street!!!

There are loads of characters who should go before Gail or Audrey. Nick is a terrible actor, the utterly pointless Alahan Family (Dev, Sunita, Asda and Aldi) and the guy from Taggart who can't do a northern English accent for toffee, or act his way out of a crisp packet. Eva or whoever she's called is just puerile, and no matter how many "owts and nowts" Stella peppers her dialogue with, she's still Cindy Beale putting on a voice.

Audrey & Gail are two of the best characters in the show right now. In over 30 years they haven't gone stale and still remain as current and fresh as ever. The current storyline is a stroke of genius imo, because Gail has always fallen for the charms of dodgy men, and the way this story has been crafted has been genius. There has been a reason for everything and it is completely character driven, rather than the some of the plot driven nonsense like Sophie/Jenna/Ryan etc. Gail is now getting involved in the love square, on Lewis' advice which is pushing her further away from her sons. Audrey still despises her for ruining her relationship with Lewis, and she is on her own yet again, feeling vulnerable, and I think it's very believable she would fall for Lewis' scam, considering she still feels bad as she knows Lewis was genuine with Audrey and believes he is the same with her. It will be interesting to see what direction this storyline goes in, because IIRC Nigel Havers should be leaving for panto pretty soonish? But how would he return after conning Gail out of her house? (which presumably he will do). And how will Audrey react to the whole situation? Then later on in the year we will have Nick/Kylie/David/Leanne which will tear the Platts apart further. The family has been on the backburner ever since the Joe saga, which has been good, because they have come back refreshed and it looks like they will be the main family this year.

Audrey is one of my favourite characters, I think she is amazing and as someone else has already said she is brilliant with emotional scenes. Gail however is not someone I particularly like but I do enjoy watching her and her OTT reactions to everything. As far as I am concerned we need these two characters in Corrie. |

Haha completely with you! I love Audrey, she is fabulous. Gail... well Helen Worth does an amazing job and she does get good storylines. But I can't stand Gail, she drives me insane, but they can't let her go - I just love to hate her!
REALLY not looking forward to sarah's return though...
