windows 7 pro
anyone here use it for domestic everyday use. and how do they find it compared with windows 7..
One thing i have notice it needs less memory to work well compared with windows7 and vista. My own machine a Dell small pc. with 2gb memory and 40 gb hard drive. yes 40 gig only. and basic sound and graphic cards works better than my vista laptop with 4gb memory and 120 gig HDD. strange that ! |

It's not just about the hardware or the version of Windows. The general state of the OS (background programs, malware, etc.) is also of paramount importance. You can't, for example, accurately compare a five year old Vista install to a clean install of W7/W8.

I think what a lot of people do is to down load too many videos and music. the average video is ie 2gb . If cleaned regular for dodgy things on the hdd and regular maintenance . there is no reason why vista or windows 7 loaded pc s should work well. I even had a XP loaded pc only to 2012. which in theory should not even be running at all.. (specs on that 512 DRAM 100gb HDD)theonly problem i had was that microsoft did not like supporting it with updates.that often.. |

Regular defragging only gives negligible benefit; likewise the amount of data files doesn't matter too much. It's the background programs that run every time you switch on which are the real problem. Also things like your choice of AV or maybe just one program going rogue and using up far too many resources. That's why you can't accurately compare a 4GB W7 machine against a 3GB Vista against a 2GB XP. There are just too many variables.
