iPhone signal display of HSPA+ etc.

Does anyone know of an app that can tell what type of signal the iPhone is receiving? With Samsung Galaxy for example it says H, H+, 4G etc. whereas iPhone says E, 3G, LTE or the circle for 2g services. I think the Samsung way is better so that you know what type of 3G your receiving as opposed to it just saying 3G...

I never found a way to do this which annoyed me. Apple seemed to think we don't need to know what signal we are receiving

I haven't a clue what the field test stats represent, but if you can make sense of it dial *3001#12345#* then press call from the keypad to enter Field Test mode and get a load of tech data about the cellular signal including the signal strength in db.

Field Test Mode give you some more advanced info. Key in *3001#12345#* and hit call.

Apple users should know better than to question the wisdom of the mighty Apple

What do you use the information for?

Nothing other than my own curiosity...

I find its useful for deciding whether to bother trying to browse the net or not. If 3G, its not worth it as its to bloody slow. With H or H+ its fine.

Simply saying 3G is useless.

Has anyone tried using cell2gps.com ?
Doesn't matter what I put in, it always goes to the US.
What are the country code and network code for EE 4G? There seems to be 2. 235/01 and 235/02
Entered these and the the location Id and cell Id from the iPhone field test mode but it doesn't locate anything.
Anyone else tried?

I can only get 2g in work at the minute so I'll try that after football tomorrow afternoon. I imagine I'll be too tired when I get home at about 7...
