Current S3 Owner, this could be my next phone.

6.1" screen, 4050 mAh battery, LTE, 1.5GHz Hi-Silicon quad-core processor, a screen-to-body ratio of 73%, which is currently the highest in the industry by far.

I think I'm in love.

As somebody that hardly ever uses the phone for calls, more for texts and data I think this would be great. I don't think you could make a call on it in public really, it's HUGE!

I can see Huawei doing well this year. But only if they launch the G350, D2 & mate on time.

I don't think it's for everyone, but for me I use the phone for data. When I do make calls it's in the car or at home on speaker. I rarely use the phone at work or in the street.

It would be ideal for web browsing and applications, navigation etc. It goes on sale in China next month I just hope we see it here by summer when I'll be looking at buying an LTE handset.

That's one hell of a battery, I bet you'd get 2 full days average phone use out of that.

The screen to body ratio is not necessarily such a good thing. Obviously it's easier to have a higher ratio on a bigger screen, just as a 15" pizza has a higher topping to crust ratio than a 10" pizza. But on a 6" screen you can't just put your hand around it, you need a bit of a border.

This is what matters. Just like the ascend d1, it went on sale first in China but was delayed for ages and came out in the UK very late at a price point that the Galaxy S3 had already fallen to. Huawei need to make sure their international launches go smooth this time. And I agree, battery will be great. Imagine an extended battery for this haha

I don't think you need it at the sides though although I see what you mean. It also claims to have better reception by up to 2.5dB due to a dual antenna system boosting reception by 20-30% they say.

They said it has "Floating Window" multitasking support, which means that you can watch a video while typing up an email, for example. Also "One-hand" user interface, which sees the keyboard and dialpad shrinked down so they can be used with just one hand.

I'd certainly shortlist it if available when I choose my next phone. It's released in China next month and a global rollout planned in March.

I'm not saying there's owt wrong with it. Just addressing some of the points made.

That all seems strangely familiar...

Yep these features are on the Samsung galaxy notes and are making their way to the other galaxy handsets through updates.

I suppose the attraction is the size. For me it would be too big but some would like it.

As a (sleepless) Note 1 owner, I'd say that 6.1" is really pushing it in terms of portability. I'm not one for a man-bag and my existing Note is just about the limit in terms of what I can manage in my jeans pocket. Even the Note 2, with its elongated height makes jean pocket / jogging bottom (for the gym) carrying an issue. Not so much of a deal in my suit jacket.

The phone does look very nice though, but loses the USP of Samsung's innovative stylus and related apps.

Would rather have a 7 inch tab and another not so gigantic phone, which is the setup I have now. I tether my phone internet connection to the tablet and hey presto! Big screen surfing, YouTube etc.

I hated the stylus, it was what put me off the note. Not only does it mean you lose space for extra battery, but I would never use a stylus.

But use of the stylus is entirely optional - you can use the Note perfectly well without it. Theoretically, you could house a battery the size of a brick but a 3100mah battery (Note 2) seems more than enough.

I use the stylus for surfing, note taking, doodling etc...it IS surprisingly brilliant to have. Wouldn't be without one now, so can't see me ever moving away from the Note range. The Huwaei IS just another oversized smartphone, with no real innovation.

What, floating windows? You mean like on most other GUI based systems that have been around for the past 25+ years? It isn't a Samsung original idea ....

More like functionality that Samsung's Android devices have had for a couple of years now.
Nobody claimed Samsung invented the concept but they were the first company to bring it to Android.

That and the one-handed UI, that's lifted straight off the Note 2.

Maybe not but what other phones before Samsung used this?

Actually we note 1 users got the one handed UI first in our ICS updates.
