Jurassic Park 4 3D confirmed

3D Jurassic Park 4 confirmed for summer 2014 release
Steven Spielberg will produce the fourth instalment of the blockbuster franchise - due in cinemas 13 years after the last part in the series.

The fourth instalment of the dinosaur film franchise will see the return of Steven Spielberg in a producing role. It comes 13 years after the 2001 film Jurassic Park III, which was the only movie in the series not to either be directed or produced by Spielberg although it was still made by his production company, Amblin Entertainment.

The original Jurassic Park is to be re-released in 3D this year to celebrate the movie's 20th anniversary.

Again, I seen it not long ago in the cinema although in 2D.

I wonder if they'll change the formula of pointless running about chased by CGI dinosaurs? First one was 'Wow! It's great what they can do these days". Then they improved the CGI in the second one. By the third one it was 'CGI? So what? Where's the plot?"

In this one, the dinosaurs swim out to sea and onto the various continents

I was surprised how much non-cgi was used in the first film. Entire dinosaurs were guys in costumes.

CGI dinosaurs could be boring as hell, but it will be interesting if they use what scientists now believe the dinosaurs looked like, or the "monsters" that were in the original movie.

So before a director, actors or even a script they get a release date. Oh this will turn out well

How do you know there's no script? Director? Actors?

They may not have been announced yet. All decisions are probably very near completion and will be announced very soon.

There's nothing to say all things aren't in place - they may just have not been announced yet.

In 2011 Spielberg confirmed that the script was being written by Mark Protosevich

A "dinosaurs loose in a city" type scenario may have worked, but the tacked on ending to JP2 covered that - rather badly.

Yes i think the third instalment was bad, let's hope this one loosely goes back to the original format

Which is what, exactly?

A friend of mine once said films about dinosaurs consist almost solely of people backing away from dinosaurs. A bit harsh, but he's got a point. In themselves, there's not much that can be done with them really.

I suppose Hollywood may surprise us and spin something unusual and interesting from our prehistoric pals. But I won't be too surprised if JP4 consists of quite a few people backing away from them.

Maybe a scientist got word of what was happening and went to the island to do some experiments. He accidently cuts himself without realizing and his blood drips into various dinosaur DNA. When they hatch, they can talk, and have human like capabilities.

Most of them are good but some raptors and 1 gangster stegosaurus, and a couple of compys which get used as spys turn bad

It's being reported that Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) has been picked as the director for JP4.

Not sure what to make of it myself. Perhaps more reassuring is that the script is from Rise of the Planet of the Apes writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, who did a pretty bang on job with that dormant franchise.

There's specualtion that a teaser of some sort will be attatched to JP 3D.

Yeah just read about the director - interesting.

If there is a teaser attached to Jurassic Park 3D it is going to be just that - a teaser. It can't possibly contain any footage.

Totally agree. I was actually really looking forward to that part of the film but found once they were off the island the film collapsed and seemed 'rushed' to say the least.

Thankfully JP3 returned to form (I may even like JP3 better than the first film).

I've only watched the original completely - I tried to watch TLW but gave up one third of the way through, and never tried JP3.

The 3D remake of the original looks good though - always impresses me how they can make 3D versions of films shot in 2D.

BTW OP - cool name

"IN 3D!"

It just screams "cheapo hollywood" to me now.

Also, has anyone seen the new Gi Joe billboards? They have a massive "IN 3D" that dwarves the rest of the poster. It's hilarious. I had to drive past it three times just to see what exactly was in 3D.

I'm secretly hoping they can get Jeff Goldblum on board. His character, Ian Malcolm, was one of the best things about the JP franchise.

I don't think it will happen but I would really like to see Alan, Ellie and Ian back again, the children as well, all grown up of course! I would be interested in seeing them return to Isla Nublar and see what's become of the park and how it's aged since they left it.

Oh dear. Reports this morning suggest the production is in some trouble and may be on hold - creative differences etc.

No cast announced yet, and that proposed June 2014 release date won't be helping.

JP4 extinct?
