I'm thinking the comic title was 'Jet'/ 'Valiant' or of that ilk.
The story was regarding a German scientist invading the UK using giant animals (I have picture in my mind of the scientist riding a monster wasp which was driving its sting through the roof of a police car ).
The title I am sure was 'Von ???????'s Army.
Any ideas?

Germany, April 1945 and the crazy inventor Doktor Von Hoffman plans to destroy Britain with "the mightiest weapon ever devised by man". Von Hoffman invented an armoured rocket firing flame-throwing centipede. The RAF destroyed the centipede so Von Hoffman invented a Giant eel. (Eric Bradbury)
