I am getting really naffed off with getting cut off whilst on my samsung E800 or getting network failed error and having problems sending texts.
How can I find out if it's the phone playing up or network problems on O2?

Do the following and see if you still have the problems after.

remove sim from phone
power up phone with sim removed
enter
*2767*688#
*2767*637#
*2767*2878#
*2767*3855#

Note: after each code entered phone will restart

Always important to keep backups of phone books, especially before carrying out any technical operations. Should have reminded you to do this perhaps.

Anyway, does it still drop calls?

I have a Samsung E800 too...and my signal keeps dropping too - in areas where my sister's o2 phone has full bars.

I also get the "Error" message when trying to send texts...takes three or four attempts. - I'm considering sending mine back :S
