If you have a Blu-Ray player I would heartily recommend the BR disc available in the US. It's region free and looks GLORIOUS. To look at it you would not think it's over 50 years old now!!! There's also a Criterion version but I think that is region locked.

There's quite a few on the banned list according to wikkipedia, which you probably wouldn't see much of on telly

Are they showing Child's Play these days?

2 and 3 show up on ITV4 quite a bit. Haven't seen the first in a while but BBC used to show it back in the day.

All the child plays have been on itv4 but not on the main five channels for a long time.

The Crow with brandon lee was on a few times on channel 4 in the 90s but never on again.

My own private idaho (1993) with River Phoenix has not been on since the mid 90s. in fact river phoenix films rarely get aired on the main five channels apart from sneakers, indiana jones and little nikita.

That's because they are still linked to the Jamie Bulger murder.

That was dismissed as specious at the time. The likely reason for lack of transmission is that the terrestrials have since the mid-late 90s had to resort to buying the cheapest packages of shit films they can afford.

That link was almost 23 years ago (and absolute bullshit). They've been shown plenty of times since then.

Thelma and Louise. A famous, iconic film and most of Ridley Scott's other films have been shown many times.

That reminds me, they often seem to show the Death Wish sequels but never the original.

Black Christmas (1974 version) is on dvd but only seen it once on tv

The Squeeze - film starring Stacy Keach and David Hemmings. I have seen it on tv one sat night back in the eighties and never been released on region 2. Strangely though a region 1 is available

Unman Wittering and Zygo - great british thriller again with Hemmings that I am still waiting to see officially released.

Anyone remember Scarecrows from 1988. That rarely gets shown.
Also The Strange And Deadly Occurrence from 1974.

The Crow was on Sky Movies only last week. Okay, not terrestrial - but it was on TV. So, I finally got to watch it.

The Horror Channel used to show it regularly, but not last year I believe.

The original was unavailable for home viewing till about 10 years ago which may account for lack of screenings over the years. I think it's been on a couple of times since then (late night BBC1?) but not often.

Okay. Thank you for the reply. The other two films of his that you mentioned, I haven't seen yet. On my to do list, to quote Shrek.

Ahhh, just thinking - when was the last time that "Half Moon Street" was shown on UK TV? It stars Signourney Weaver and Michael Caine, made in 1986 - so Weaver had just hit the big time with "Aliens" out that year. Not a great film, but I was just wondering when it was last shown. I know the BBC had the rights to it. I think it was last shown sometime in the 1990s on BBC 1.

There was a movie called 'Mickey' that was actually banned in the UK.
It was due to be released just after the James Bulger case and because of the nature film (killer child) it got banned in the UK.

Josh and Sam (1993) - Another one from sky movies, from my youth. Haven't seen or heard about this in about 15 years. Not available on dvd or vhs.

The Wizard (1989) - The cult classic nintendo based movie with Fred Savage, featuring the first look of Super Mario bros 3 in a gaming contest, before it was released. Never, ever, seen on television these days - Not available on dvd, or vhs.

The Wizard is still one of my favourite movies. Think it was only ever released on DVD in the US. I did manage to obtain a digital download of this movie.

Im glad im not the only one who remembers the movie Josh and Sam. Remember seeing it on tv years ago. Also managed to obtain a digital download of this movie. Had it posted on YouTube for a while until the took it down.

Spacehunter - Adventures In The Forbidden Zone - This Peter Strauss lead sci fi curio was around 1983 and was like a poor mans Mad Max(that's sayin' something!) and is only currently available on US import.

Battle Beyond The Stars - a gr8 sci fi film from the boom period (late 70's-early 80's) with John Boy Walton flying around in a space ship that has huge breasts. Only available on German import dvd & i've not seen it on tv for years (i may have missed it?).

Sparkler - never seen it on dvd over in the UK & never had a terrestrial showing (to my knowledge).

Tender Is The Night - brilliant BBC series (i know, not film ) adaptation of the F Scott Fitzgerald book - had Peter Strauss, Mary Steenbergen & Sean Young. Never seen it since 1986 - it was a big sumptous production as well...BBC dvd pls!

I was gonna add Ice Pirates, but they've finally released it!

NICE ONE! Remember this leaving a huge impression on me as a teen in the mid 80's when it was shown on (BBC?). Loved the way it details the 70's NYC singles scene. The ending is harrowing with the strobe...

AFAIK it can play on any computer as long as you have an iTunes account, Failing that, if you have anything Apple (iPod, iPad, TV) you can watch on there.

That was shown on late night BBC 2 a couple of years ago. BBC 2 do tend to put them the sci fi/horror films on late night Saturday at around that time.
