There is a film that my Mum hired out years ago in 1998 from MVC, called 'Palookaville'. It was from 1995 and it was a crime comedy with William Forsythe and it is in a similar style to 'Welcome to Collingwood'. Has anyone else seen it?

I know it's available on DVD, but Peter Weir's Picnic at Hanging Rock rarely gets an airing on TV.
Same goes for Amadeus.

The Gauntlet has been on a lot lately on ITV 1&4 and its one of those rare films on ITV where they show it in widescreen

that's a good call. it was very popular when it came out. It made a star out of Margi Clarke (but we won't hold that against it). It's surprising it doesn't pop up on Film 4 every now and then.

Amadeus does get shown quite a bit on TV. It has been on Sky Movies, BBC1 and Film 4 in the last couple of years. I think it was the Director's Cut as well.

Good call, apart from a couple of misjudged attempts at humour its a cracking thriller.

It’s been on. Good film.

It was on only the other day.

City Heat with Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds.Regarded by many as one of the worst films either of them did....
Clint could live for another hundred years and make a film a year and he would NEVER make anything as bad as Pink Cadillac or The Rookie in all that time.

Also I'd like to see the spaghetti western spoof They Call Me Trinity....
Been released on DVD a couple of times.

High Desert Kill.

A low budget science fiction film last seen on TV in the nineties.
I remember that very clearly. IIRC it was on Channel 5.

I've had a couple of people say how good 'Miracle Mile' is but I have yet to see it appear on TV or Sky.
It’s a brilliant flick. Saw it when it originally came out in the cinema. Stonking Tangerine Dream soundtrack as well. Available on DVD (Region 1).

......

Rarely seen on telly:

Lathe of Heaven (original)
The Time Travelers (not on DVD either)
The Maze
Hidden City
The Power

Great film - used to be on quite a lot when I was young.

As did Hannibal Brooks, the Bridge at Remagen and Von Ryans Express.

Xanadu
The HIll (which pops up on TCM now and again, but until I stumbled on to it about 3 years ago, I'd never heard of!)
Xanadu is available on DVD. I have it

I'm choosing to ignore the ''and DVD' part of the thread....and your shame at owning Xanadu.

Such a pity that it was Gene Kelly's last film. He deserved so much better.

I was just thinking it's been years since I saw Coma with Michael Douglas and Genevieve Bujold.

I totally agree, I adore Gene Kelly - he's the reason I have a soft spot for the film despite its naffness. And I love ELO too.

Another dance film that's definitely not on DVD and has only been on TV once (I think) is "Dancers" - it's basically Mikhail Baryshnikov's film of his production of Giselle with a really naff plot woven around it. I'll happily watch Baryshnikov in anything though, so I have it on video.

Oooh, my hero Tom Selleck plays a corpse in that film. How far his career has come since then!

I've never seen it. I've missed it when it has been on TV and I'm not going to shell out for it on DVD just to see him lying on a slab!

Don't recall seeing 10 Rillington Place in the listings much, but it's on tonight at 11:50 on BBC2.

A good film - Dickie Attenborough excels as creepy killer Christie. But for those of you facing a cold, cloudy monday morning back to work or whatever, its seedy grimness won't be the best way to start the week.

The original Nightmare on Elm Street movie is rarely on tv.
Good point actually, I cant remember the last time I actually see that on or hardly any of the others for that matter (bar the remake of course). Need to put them on more often or do an entire marathon of the lot.
