Clamshell phones - only for girls?
I've always liked the clamshell design mobile phones and, now that I've finally been given "authorisation" to upgrade my aged Nokia 7110, I'm thinking of buying one (the Samsung E300). However, I've read opinions on other forums that clamshell phones are more for the fairer sex than blokes. What does everyone here think?

Does it really matter? If you like the phone get it, it's YOUR phone.

I think some clamshell designs are definitely more feminine than others. And example would be the Samsung A800. Whereas the Nokia 6260 HERE
or the Samsung D500 HERE is more masculine in my opinion. Its all bollox anyway, example: wearing a pink shirt doesnt make you gay or less masculine, equally, neither does having a clamshell phone!

Who cares?! I think you should buy a pink phone like Carrie on Sex and the City while wearing skin tight PVC - if you like it, buy it.

I think they are seen in some quarters as a bit girly because they look like those wee mirror/makeup things.

And I've always thought people with clamshell phones were old Startrek fans!

As someone else said above some clamshells are geared more to women. This might simply because the key pads are too small for a man to use comfortably.

Yeah, I've been looking at that one. Sadly, it seems to have a few annoying flaws and not as many features as the E300 (a newer model, but they've gone back to the old shape with the aerial).
