Octo-Core processors coming on Huawei and Samsung Smartphones in 2013
Apple should be very afraid!
Samsung and others have been raising their smartphone specifications by installing new quad core CPUs at increased clock speeds. The latest phones announced at CES now boast 1.8Ghz Quad Core processors but that seems to be just a short term upgrade as Huawei and Samsung have signalled they intend to offer 8 Core CPU enabled devices later this year. The look of the Huawei P-Series alone should be enough to give Apple lots to worry about. Ultra thin with a full HD display and lots of memory plus that 8 core CPU. If the battery can deliver then this should be well worth waiting for. http://www.slashgear.com/huawei-tips...2013-11264973/ |

If that never started with "Apple should be afraid" that might of been a good post.
The news is about Samsung and huawei. I think overtime Huawei will come to dominate the mobile industry, these Chinese company's are really coming up with the goods. Btw the way I'm loving letting Siri write my posts. But saying "full stop" feels strange lol. |

I think maybe they should go for a quad core processor along with a 5th core for running idle and this would be great for power saving.
I believe I even heard of one of the mobile phones doing this? |

I believe I even heard of one of the mobile phones doing this? And i'm sure the 8 core processors will do something similar to this. In fact i'm sure i remember reading about a processor where 4 cores were used when the phone was idle/low power and the other 4 cores which were clocked higher only kicked in during intensive tasks EDIT: Turns out i was talking about Samsung's new 8 core processor :P http://www.newsfactor.com/news/Samsu...4F&full_skip=1 |

Never know why anyone has a go at Apple when a competitor comes out with a faster chipped or more cored chip. I've never seen a new iPhone lag or be slower than the competition. Apple is anal about how efficient iOS and as it's a very tailored OS therefore it doesn't need the power. So in fact the competition are running scared to make sure they are faster by using twice or 4 times the cores.
The Nexus 4 has a faster chip.. but i found it laggy compared to the iPhone 5. (1.5Mhz Quad v's 1.3Mhz Dual) |

I was being sarcastic, it's hard to find enough work for 8 processors even for a desktop computer. What do they want to run on it? Do they want to crack encryption algorithms?

Faster phone, it will dial the number faster
![]() but you can only use it for 20 mins as the battery will die and it will have a standby of 4 hours. Oh for goodness sake, before they muck around with multi cores, let get better battery technology. |

I'm surprised no one here can see this for what it really is, willy waving among the makers of Andriod handsets,
My screens 4", well mines 4.8", well mines 5.5". My phone is dual core, well mines quadcore, well mines octo-core. Then you have Apple, following its own rules, keeping things slick and smooth. Phones and a OS that are optimised to work together. I awaiting the day an Android user turns up with his 32inch 32core "handset" I might just stick my phone to my TV lol. I saw a guy making a call on a Note2 today in ASDA.You just know if there are any pictures of it when he sees them in 10 years he will be "what was I thinking" ![]()

We get it, you like apple. Now lets move on.
Hey, I hav no doubt(nore any proof) Apple are scrambling to follow Samsung and release a Phablet as we speak. But I think they will be looked back on with embarrassment. Once folding screens are perfected no one will understand why we wanted to walk round with phones like the Note-2. |

Or apple could do something a little original for a change?
Like what? Its all been done pretty much. Now its just refining and reinventing. I'm not sure where any phone maker can go to be original. Apple is credited with basically creating the modern smart phone market and the current tablet market. How more original can a company be? The future is "probably" high spec'd Chinese smart phones at prices no one can match. |

Just to inform you all:
There are 8 cores but only four cores are in use at any one time. It uses, ARM's big.LITTLE technology. These chips will have four powerful cores and four weaker cores (ARMv7). The idea expands on the idea of four powerful cores and a weaker 5th core. In ordinary use the four weaker cores can run the operating system then when you do something demanding, the four powerful cores take over. The aim of this is to improve battery life. |

In fact, thinking about it, ive seen absolutely no slow down on the N4 at all. On the S3 i had a fair bit of lag until i changed launchers. The iphone however does lag when scrolling to the search screen and i found it lagging very slightly just scrolling sometimes. Did it on my 4S as well. |

That's just a simple fact, although I do agree the S3 was laggy but with the release of Jellybean it runs very very smoothly now. Better than the Nexus 4 I would say. Infact I would say the S3 really is a better phone than the Nexus 4 in many way, and much more versatile than the iPhone 4s. Its just to damn big. |

The 4s does not lag at all, not because its Uber powerful (it isn't) but because iOS is designed to run within set parameters and hardware.

No. I have both sitting in front of me just now, my N4 and the Mrs S3 and the N4 is much smoother. Put Nova Launcher on the S3 to get rid of TW and its smoooooooooth!Quote:

Yep, i would agree in a way. I miss the Samsung specific features which is why the last few days ive been considering the swap back to the S3. The sound on the video camera on the N4 is driving me bonkers!! It doesnt even record in Stereo!! I even tried a mod to fix it but to no avail.

Unless you think the keyboard sliding up from the bottom is lag? |
