Mate not paid his bill..
Kitt 2000

Me mate failed to pay his bill with some sort of direct debit foul up..

I3 weeks ago they cut him off with him only being able to recive incoming calls..

He's quite lazy and hasn't got round to sorting it out, now I cant call him as his phones totaly dead..

Has he left things too late?
Won't they reconnect him if he tries to sort it out now?
And will he be liable for the rest of the money he'd pay on his contract?

13 weeks ago or 3 weeks ago?

I'm not sure what happens as personally I've never missed a bill but I guess he pays what he owes and they reconnect his phone. If he doesn't pay what he owes within a set time I would assume his account is passed to debt collectors who will want payment to clear the entire remaining contract length.

He's probably just got an incoming and outgoing call bar on. This should be lifted once they pay the bill as long as he does it soon.

If he leaves it too long he could be completely disconnected in which case a final bill will be generated which will include an early termination fee

I was disconnected for about a year whilst my bill went to a debt collecting company.

In all honesty I had forgotten about it and it was only when the Debt letter arrived that I remembered. Called them up, paid the outstanding bill and was connected in less than an hour.

Probably was just an incoming and outgoing call bar then

If it was a direct debit screw up rather than an error on the part of your mate, ask the phone company to go and fix his credit rating on experian/equifax as well. Even a single late payment can screw things up for years to come - I know someone who was refused a mortgage because of one late credit card payment due to a DD ballsup.
