Hi TW When did Kenneth More do it? I've never seen his version. I haven't read the books either, just noticed the programme as I was flicking through the channels

I notice Mark Williams is Father Brown in this and he was in Blandings yesterday. I'm enjoying this more, I couldn't get into Blandings.

I loved the Kenneth More version, but will have to catch up with this new one, as forgot to put this on record...

I've seen him in The 39 Steps and one or two other old films, but I didn't know he'd done tv work as well.

I enjoyed this version of FB, will definitely watch it tomorrow. Makes a change having a good show on during the afternoon rather than antique/house/cookery programmes.

That was rather good, definitely one for a series link....baffling that this is broadcast on a weekday afternoon when Saturday evenings on BBC1 are currently looking so palid...

As I work from home on a Monday I was able to have a late lunch and watch it and i thought is was rather good, wasted on an afternoon slot though, I have set the recorder to record the remaining nine!

If you have a Kindle you can download the original GK Chesterton short stories as a single volume free, although to me they are a bit heavy going but I will persevere and read them all!

It is a strange time to put it on I suppose, probably won't get a big audience!

I haven't got a Kindle, I love real books too much! My collection has taken over the spare room a bit though so I guess there's something to be said for Kindles Thanks anyway I might buy one of Chesterton's books and give the stories a go.

Loved it, sky+ set for tomorrow.

Hugo Speer was as yummy as ever and Barry Sloane also very easy on the eye, though I fear Simeon may not be in anymore episodes

I dont think that its wasted in an afternoon slot lots of us are in on an afternoon and it's nice to have something original to watch let the people who get control of the tv in the evening watch it on iPlayer for once

Do you think it's something for a Saturday night though? Probably more suited to a Sunday afternoon/early evening maybe. It's a hit with me though There isn't much on BBC1 that's grabbed my interest of late.

I agree that it is probably more suited to the Sunday demographic than the Saturday - both are 'family' slots with Saturday perhaps more slanted towards the younger members, Sunday to the older, but with the shows that the beeb have in that post 6pm Saturday slot doing at best adequate and at worst abysmal at the moment, if I was a scheduler I'd give it a punt....indeed in terms of tone and content I don't see it being much different to Death in Paradise which gets a primetime weekday slot.....of course there may be all sorts of internal political complications about how and where is can be screened based on it being part of daytime programming.

I agree, Saturdays are terrible on BBC1. It's become quite a lot like ITV!

I don't usually watch daytime TV, but as I'm snowed in today I watched this. I've always loved Father Brown, both in the books and on telly with Kenneth More.

Weren't there some films about him as well? I think they were before even my time.

I enjoyed it - Mark Williams was good in the part.

Absolutely beautiful countryside - does anyone know where it was filmed?
