Been catching up on this. I liked the period setting and the Father Brown character is well played. However the plotlines have been pretty much rubbish. Well actually they're abysmal, sort of 21st century imagining of what life might have been like then but way off the mark.

Great! I'll be recording the series as I really enjoyed the first one. A gem of a show for a cold winter afternoon

Though it would be interesting if they were filmed in the current weather conditions to see how he manages to keep his hat on.

Any news on the Polish girl, as she seemed to be missing from the intro at the start, they have given the name of the posh lady and the ruffian, hope she comes back as she is very pretty

I've read somewhere that the BBC have already commissioned a further 15 episodes for next year. If true, it's good news!

Mark Williams thinks the same about a primetime outing. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/what...-needs-6451720 |

They are. Shame Sophie isn't in this series plus the fact the BBC won't put it in primetime.

Just watched this (most of it, anyway - my TV goes haywire in a high wind).
Excellent story, well acted, as usual. I almost don't want it to go primetime as it's so nice to have something good to watch in the afternoons when the weather is bad. ![]() Great that another series has been commissioned already! |

She's not going to be in this series, sorry to disappoint you, baldbilluk.
I wasn't paying attention to the cast names in the titles so it didn't notice she wasn't listed. I just hoped she was only missing from this episode. It was still good stuff, of course... But I'll miss Susie. The show needs a younger female (regular) character alongside Sid. |

Mark Williams thinks the same about a primetime outing. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/what...-needs-6451720 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10510949 So they have successfully commissioned a series that improves BBC Daytime, and gets good reviews. Whilst it might get more viewers in a primetime slot, it would leave the BBC with a headache over what would replace it, whilst adhering to the pledge to improve the daytime output. And in truth, why should the daytime audience not have some decent programming to watch? |

Good start to the series, but going to miss Hugo
![]() Not a Tom Chambers fan but hopefully that won't take any of the enjoyment away from the programme for me |

Is it a spoiler to talk about the détails of the episode?
I have a question. |

I have a question. ![]() Usually it wouldn't be a spoiler if the episode has aired, unless it's a clue to something that may happen later in the series (as in the Sherlock thread, where people spotted something in episode 2 that will be important in episode 3). In the case of Father Brown, though, I think a lot of people watch it later, as they are busy during the day, so better safe than sorry. (I've just noticed you haven't been posting long, so, just in case you don't know - to spoiler a piece of text, go to the "Go Advanced" option under the reply box; at the top there is a list of options (B, I, U etc). The last on,e on the extreme right, is an S in faint grey. Highlight the text you want to spoiler then press the S.) |

In addition to what I said yesterday I see this as a good replacement (for want of a better word) for The Doctor Blake Mysteries which was in the same slot just before Christmas
