Looking through the threads looks like a lot of you are dancers already. After watching SCD have really got the bug to take up some kind of partnered dancing - but don't have a clue where to start. Am only 21 (bit scared everyone will be in their 50s) and don't have a partner. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas/advice on where to start, or if anybody else is in a similar predicament?...

You're not the only one Sarah! I did a bit of dancing when I was in primary school and did a few classes here and there, but never really had the ambition to really train as a dancer. I really regret that now, cos I'm now 19 and I really wish I had the ambitions I have now, when I was younger. SCD has re-ignited my love for dancing and would love to take it up again. But i'm petrified cos I know there will be so many more experienced people there, who have trained since they were like 5 or something. Also there's the cost as well, but I know I could pick it up quickly again. So advice from anyone else who started training at a later age would be much appreciated! Sorry Sarah, I know its not advice, just letting you know you're not alone - Good luck xxx

I'm a dancer... not ballroom though, tap and jazz.

anyway, i'm 19 and i only started dancing when i was 10 years old. i know 10 isn't exactly old but considering that my classmates have been dancing since they were 3 years old and do ballet, it was extermely daunting. i love it, it's an obsession really!! it's great exercise too.

try looking through your local yellow pages for dance schools. call them up and tell them that you'd like to try ballroom. they may have a begginers class you can attend or you can just go to watch a class.

do you want to compete or just do it for fun?

if you go on the websites of the proffessional dancers from the series they often have ways you can contact them about dance tuition.
Hope that helps xx
