EE - 2012 was a great year!
2012 was actually a great year for EastEnders. Yes some storylines were dragged out a little but this proves EastEnders is still No1 top soap. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfQ2fHJzaQU

I liked the clips except for the Kat & Derek nonsense 2012 for me was an improvement on 2011. But I personally would never call it a great year. |

Great? I am guessing you have not watched EastEnders in the early days or at least during the late 90's/early 00's because they were great years!
It was definitely an improvement from 2011, God even when we thought EE was at it's worst under the most terrible producers it would have still pissed all over it. I do however have high hopes for 2013! |

What they don't seem to realise is that the reason we're still thinking back to those times is because present-day EE just doesn't compete! |

There's no cutting-edge drama The soap has lost itself, the only thing they can churn out is recycled affairs but with different characters and to be honest I say different characters but Kat and Max have been down the affair path once too often! This Ava storyline is as exciting as a wet Christmas! |

There were a number of storylines that I loved or at least did in places, such as Heather's murder, Alfie/Roxy build-up and Janine's pregnancy, but overall I felt there were too many missed opportunities. There was no build-up to Joey/Lauren, we saw nothing of Ian's recovery, the B&B fire had minimal aftermath, etc. There was plenty of good material, but lots of it for me was let down by poor writing, poor pacing and missed opportunities.

Kirkwood and Jamie Foreman both left, two very great things to happen to the show.

The build up to SL's has either been drawn out, or not developed enough and just rushed into. There were some diamonds in there though, with the whole Janine/Michael and her PND etc. and Jean/Michael. |

Completely agree. Obviously it's never going to be as good as the golden years of Eastenders (1985 - 1987, 1999 - 2003) but it was still a very good year with lots happening. I'm not too sure what 2013 is going to be like...there doesn't really seem to be any big or exciting storylines coming up...

Might be in the minority but I think the character has become extremely dull.
Get out of here! Janine is one of my favourite characters in any soap everShe's got so many dimensions. There's the bitchy side, the emotional side, the needy side and the happy side. Just recently we saw her really vulnerable as well, she was a wreck. I can't wait to see how she will be on her return! |

She came across quite bitchy and jealous in the jungle, the jealousy between her and Helen would have slapped you in the face like Pat Butcher!

Poor writing for the Masoods + Chryed's terrible exit storyline is a huge blot on the year for me. I just don't care about Joey and Lauren the way I have past couples because the writing hasn't been great and David Witts mumbles rather than speaks. |
