Why are ducks so hard to carve ?

Much harder than chickens or turkeys. So hard to get the legs and wings off.

If it's cooked long and slow it will fall off the bone, that's how I personally like it, but many people prefer it pink, and it's a bit more tricky then. If I am wanting it pink I would take the breasts off the bird before cooking.

And even Delia simply quartered them for years as opposed to carving them. I just quarter them, but then I am not fussy about having a leg or breast.

I'd hate pink duck meat...presumably it is covered in fat as it wouldn't have been cooked long enough to render the fat off. A whole duck slowly roasted in the oven is far nicer than an expensive breast pan fried and then allowed to rest in a warm oven (in my opinion ).
