Problem replacing hard drive
I've decided to put back into my PS3 the original 80GB hard drive.
Once installed, I go through the process of installing the firmware. It gets to 99% and just freezes. I've tried this several times and don't seem to be getting any further with this. Any ideas? |

Have you tried checking the disk for errors on a PC?
Given that it's getting to 99% I don't think it's the disk, but it may be worth a try. |

Why ru replacing your HDD with the original? Surely buy a 1 tb like this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...tag=mysp085-21
Or a ssd/HDD hybrid drive (750gb max) would be better? |

Sorry for not replying sooner.
I've probably used my PS3 twice in the last year, so really don't think it warrants having a large HDD sat dormant for so long. I'm using the larger drive in my laptop. I've tried an alternative 160gb HDD in the PS3 and everything went smoothly. The original 80GB drive seems to be fine in a caddy. Only the PS3 wouldn't accept it. Odd. |
