As Ii am considering purchasing a Panasonic smart tv ,i have heard that they are
selling there tv components division to Apple so that they can use in there proposed
new I tv (but name problem in UK) excellent choice for Apple , but what about
existing customers and warranties . I am a Apple fan but i am sure they will cost
a arm and leg ,they will certainly be good with modified Panasonic innards .
Good luck to Apple . Has anyone heard this

Where have you found this info ? If its correct then it will leave the 2 Korean makers with a clear run to make inovative products and just vestel to make bread and butter value products . Sad state its all in !
Do sony still make tv's or have they gone down the out sorceing route ---I read conflicting reports .

Sony still make their own TV's, they have only ever (so far) out-sourced one TV 'model', their 19/22BX series the other year - presumably while they got their own production of 19/22 up and running?.

Maybe they were going by this report, which to my knowledge still hasn't been confirmed.

Panasonic are to release their tablet in March, a 20" 4k screen running Windows 8, so may be a bit of truth in the rumour.

As far as I'm aware Sony have sold many of their production (assembly!) facilities such as Barcelona - which went ages ago.

They are essentially paying the sold off facilities to assemble Sony TV's for them - they aren't buying and badging other makes.

Barcelona, as far as I know, only ever assembled TV's, they didn't actually make the boards or anything?.

Incidentally, the return address for Sony used to be Barcelona, now it's Ribeauville in France.
