Do O2 block sites that are 18+
scotch

I'm going to get I Phone 5 on O2. My mate has one on it but whenevr he accesses a site like gaydar, he can't look at profiles - they don't download, even profiles that dont contaion adult images are blocked.

Someone else told me that O2 block the siutes like this. Is this true?

I'm not going to be spending all my time looking at these sites, lol, but would like to know I could if I wanted?

I'm not very technical. Any help much appreciated. Thanks

You have to ring them and have some 18+ cap / bar removed. Think it's the same for some gambling sites too though not 100% sure.

Thanks Rich, yeah my mate couldn't access online betting either. I thought it was just his phone and the stuff about O2 blocking sites was rubbish.

I was wrong.

Thanks again.

All the networks block adult content until you ask for it to be removed

What do Three do? I heard there was a cost involved? It never bothered me but thinking about it I'm well over 18 and I pay for my contract each month so why should I be blocked from viewing half of the Internet?

Oh really? In that case I'll pop into my local Three and get it done. It even blocked some iPhone jailbreak websites aswell!

Thanks for the reply

Don't be silly, do you think they view every profile? Gaydar allow adult images on profiles therefore the site is classed as adult. it's not brain surgery it is, and neither is it homophobia.

You really haven't thought it though have you. They don't even do the categorisation of sites, they use a popular site categorisation service like websense.

Before you start accusing people or organisations of homophobia you might want to do your research.

With Virgin Mobile there's an option to remove it online in my account. Dunno how they verify your age as I just put in my name and D.O.B and it was removed within 2 hours.

Not Sure about gaydar as am not gay but isnt that basically a community site? like facebook?

o2's blocking seems extensive they even block my own blog. it seems they have a set of words to be blocked.

I learned about this from the Pink Paper which has since disappeared.

You have to pay to see adult images on Gaydar.

There is the Gaydar app that is available for Android and iOS-I'm an EE customer and whilst Content Lock was enabled at first, the app still worked until I removed it.

Any X-rated profile images are blocked (unless it's a private message, I think) but that's down to Apple's App Store policy.
