I dont't think you can buy vcd's anymore as they were a passing unsuccesful system in the early 90's. But the best place online to buy DVD's is play.com. I have been using them for about 3 years and also many DS members use them also.

I understand that VCD is still big in the far east (probably a lot of priates floating about though of dubious quality)

Yes I would recommend play.com too. I have bought loads of dvds from them as well as PS2 and GBA games. I wouldn't order from anyone else.

I too will recommend Play247. I've only been using them since December, but I've had no reason (so far) to complain. They're about the cheapest place for practically all R1 and R2 DVDs - only on a rare occasion have I found somewhere else cheaper. I did find "Simpsons: Series 1" R1 £2 or £3 cheaper at www.cd-wow.com but that's about it.

Just use this site to make sure you're almost definately going to get the best price: http://www.dvdpricecheck.co.uk/

Play247 also post each disc seperately and use the normal post so you don't need to be home waiting for the delivery. Plus p+p is included in the price (oh how I wish this were the case with most other shopping sites!).

Region 2 dvds are sent out by recorded delivery so they need to be signed for when ordering from play.com.

I'm usually asleep or not there when my DVDs arrive and I still manage to get them (maybe my postman's a bit naughty!)

Never used them, never even bought a VCD but if that kind of thing floats your boat then it's a starting point. Can't vouch for their quality of service.

Definately use Play247 for DVDs. They're great.

I've bought VCDs from coolvcd.com (it's the same as the .co.uk site) and they are very reliable and only supply original VCDs so the quality is as good as you will get from the format.

BUT... watch out because (a) the quality does not compare to VHS generally (b) they are not WS movies and (c) THEY ARE CENSORED!!! if there's anything that may cause offence in Malaysia which is likely because they are quite easily offended by nudity there in movies.

Richard.

I used to get vcd's from www.allvcd.com - its where I got my official star wars ones from amongst others. I tend to get my dvd's from www.play.com or www.dvdcrave.com nowadays (www.dvdcrave.com are in Australia, you can subtract approx 9% off due to not paying the gst tax and the exchange rate is about 2.75 to the pound). Certainly works out cheaper most of the time if you order a couple of dvd's at a time.

Definatly thumbs-up for play247.com, used them on many occasions for R1 DVD's, I like to purchase all special edition 2-disc sets in the hope that like old records, they too will one day fetch some value!!!!

vcd's are still big but dvd's are becoming easier to copy now so more and more people are buying them now, the best place to look is a computer fair, they have them all over the country mostly on weekends, or try Tottenham Court Road, London (but I think that might be a bit far for you)

vcd's a easy to copy and 2cds will only cost about 50p or less if you buy in bulk.

Definitely agree with u about dvdcrave.com! I got Buffy s3 and Angel S1 from there, uncensored (R2 versions are) and it cost me about £100 in total for the lot inc. delivery. Usual price is about £70 for one of them.

Angel S2 has been pre-ordered since mid-Jan!

Couldn't agree more with whats been said about play.com - I ordered American Pie 2 and received it a day before it was released in the U.S.! They also have a good range of music albums there aswell.

I've also used http://www.dvdboxoffice.com/ as well and have had no complaints there either.

For VCDs I'd definelty recommend:

http://www.videocds.com - Malaysian discs w/no subtitles.
http://yesasia.com - Chinese discs w/subtitles but release dates are earlier.

BOTH of these sites supply official VCDs none of ur pirate rubbish!!!!

I'd go for http://www.play.com for DVDs but if your into more obscure stuff try http://www.futureent.com
