Android 4.2.2 may release soon

There have been news reports regarding Google Nexus 4 smartphones in certain countries shipping with Android 4.2.2 instead of 4.2.1.

Not quite, the reports are that one product - not a finished production model - was seen running 4.2.2. Not the same as being shipped with a slightly later version (which no doubt offers little in the way of enhancement, and is barely worth discussion)

there is a bug in 4.2.1
http://blogs.computerworld.com/andro...random-reboots
probably just a fix for that and anything else that is wrong and we don't know about.

Oh, I didn't actually know about it being a bug. Had it about 4 times that my phone did randomly reboot.

most errors on all phones result in a reboot. so it could be something else.

i had it with 4.2.1 on my nexus 7 and couldn't understand why there wasn't more discussion of it. but the particular bug i'm talking about is with a particular api i believe related to gps or positioning. and wasn't affecting that many people.

I think we will decide that thank you.....

On off the issues that will be fixed hopefully is the wakelock issue that kills the battery on some phones. A fix has been released from Qualcomm so hopefully that's inbound soon

Although i haven't had a random reboot at all yet.

The pointp ointt updates are nearly always bug fixes. Stock 4.2.1 was buggy on my GNex but it didn't stay stock for long and the custom firmware is, naturaly, much better. Still it will be nice when 4.2.2 hits as Google needs to fix those bugs and 4.2.1 was rushed to reinstate December.

Bug fixes are worth discussion. Better thasn the pointless slagging off of phones that we don't even own that normally happens on here.

i figure if a lot of people were affected it would have been fixed sooner.

No random reboots on my Nexus 7, nor have I experienced the wakelock issue either - although have had that on my Vega, its totally down to the OS build on that one device.

But it really is a non-starter of a discussion. There's a version number that is, unsurprisingly, after the previous version number. Gosh, thats a surprise.

(sorry, I don't do a good line in sarcasm)

Because the nexus 7 has completely different hardware! That's why you wont have the wakelock issue or the reboot one.
