Broth and Soup

What is the "official" difference between broth and soup ?

I doubt there is 'officially'.
If you read some articles they say a broth is a basis for a soup or stew, like an enhanced stock.

I think people would really use the terms interchangably depending on their location and upbringing.

Not definitive by any means, but a broth to me is a soup with cereal grains in, normally barley. Otherwise it is just a soup
