I started this thread recently about the shite battery performance. Apart from that, it's a really good phone - I like the fact you can pin-lock the keypad, so I can leave it switched on on my desk at work and no-one can look through my text messages, photos etc

TBH i used to think this phone was really good well it still is but if your using it for playing mp3's alot then get the Motorola E398 for only £129.99 on pay as you go (just down from £199.99) it comes with a free data cable, stereo headset and is stereo surround sound (im not joking here either it sounds great and compared to the Nokia 6230 the sound is much louder so you can hear it better but the choice is yours.

The E398 is available in The Link or T-Mobile stores for £129.99 but not seen it anywhere else yet.

Its a great phone. Nokia have released software updates to correct the issues, so even if you have one from an earlier manufacture date which doesnt have the later software version you can take it to your local Nokia service centre and get it updated for free.

It looks far better than the motorola e398, Nokia's are well known for having a more intuitive menu and are faster for texting and if there are problems with it, Nokia has service points all over the uk.

See list below;

Hey, Steve - I do remember you saying this in the other thread, I went and checked the manufacture date of mine and it's 20th November 2004. Were the software fixes released after this date?

On my 7250i I could check the software version by pressing *#softw0are# but it doesn't seem to work on the 6230

You really do seem to know your stuff in this area, by the way

I've always used *#0000# to bring up the software version.

Used to check if there was a new software version using http://www.unlockme.co.uk/softwareversions.html but it hasn't been updated for almost a year!

If you phone a Nokia Service Centre they should be able to tell you:-
a) is there a newer software version
b) what the new software contains
