Britpop star and former UK X-Factor contestant Olly Murs is heading to 90210.

In the episode, slated to air in April, Murs pops up to help Liam and Navid woo a pro-surfer. The singer will perform two songs — “Troublemaker,” his song featuring Flo Rida and “Right Place Right Time.”

While Americans may not know Murs yet, the 28-year-old has topped the charts across the pond with his singles “Dance with Me Tonight” and the aforementioned “Troublemaker.” When he spoke to EW in December, Murs acknowledge the divide between his UK success and impending introduction to crowds in the U.S. “I mean, when you come to the States, you’ve gotta start from scratch,” he said. “It’s a new start for everyone. We’ve got to showcase my talent and try to win new fans.”

90210 returns with new episodes Monday (Jan. 21) at 9 p.m. ET on the CW.

Olly deserves success there. He's one of the only pop artists to retain originality in his catchy music, much of it is lost to the horrible club music that tops the chart now. And his music transcends gender like Ed Sheeran, Coldplay and Adele.

Americans will like him especially if he's doing a collab with Flo Rida. AND girls will love our Essex boy if he's on an American teen series. That accent will blow their minds away like it did me <3

I like Olly but weird show for him to be on. I would have thought his looks would have been a bit overshadowed by the likes of Matt Lanter and Trevor Donovan if they are having him on it to appeal to women in that way. But still, sounds like a pretty good opportunity for him.

Part of that success is due to his constant promotion on xtra factor. I'd like to see how he would do with little to no promo.

I think heart Skips a Beat would sound so much better in a show like 90210 cause that the type of music they play. But I'm looking forward seeing his cheesy acting - there loads of that in this show

David Bowie and Justin Timberlake have both released singles out of the blue with no promo and both have topped itunes.

And to both Chem and LED, I understand fully well what you're saying but artists need PR. It doesn't matter if Olly's on our screens (tbh compared to X Factor not many watch the Xtra Factor) or whether he's generating a news story every week. Artists need to make sure people don't forget about them, otherwise forget about people not buying records, they won't even give it a listen. Do you think Emeli Sande or 1D would be as successful as they were this year without all that marketing/advertising? Obviously not.

1D is only successful because they are 5 "cute" boys and thats it. Solo artists: Girls or Boys really need PR Team, Heart Skips A Bit flopped because of that.

I agree, why Simon is STILL so occupied with his boy band is unbelievable. Little Mix and Olly will have no chance of cracking America on their own. And then he blames his own artists (as though it's their fault, the record just wasn't good enough!). But nooooo Simon if anyone is to be blamed at all for your artists lack of success it's yourself. Nobody knew Bowie was releasing any new material. It seemed as though he had retired. It was only after he released it, that everyone started talking about it.
