If I encrypt a USB Flash Drive using Bitlocker will I be able to access it on computers that are not running the Ultimate versions of Windows?

All versions of windows 7 W2K8 R2 onwards have 'read' bitlocker service installed, you can check this in service manager.

If you are using vista then you have to install some extra software which I think bitlocker stores on the USB drive (so no need to download anything).

Either way when you insert the USB device you will be prompted for its password.

Yes, I've seen it work on XP. The USB stick auto runs a program which allows you to enter a password to access the encrypted files.

Cheers, I just keep a load of backup files for things like banking and such on a USB and have just got an OS capable of Installing Bitlocker.

I have looked for software to do this, but none of them I found were not this simple.
