I just thought people might be interested that Harry Hitchens, from the second series of Young Apprentice, has just made a YouTube video where he publicly comes out:

I think good for him for doing this. More people should be open about who they are, and I think every time someone makes a video like this, someone who sees it becomes more confident within themselves. I just can't believe that he's received death threats for it.

He said we should all share it, so I thought I'd post it on here. I like Harry Hitchens, we all know he was one of the best on Young Apprentice (though that series had a lot of good people), and he comes across as being a really nice, open, genuine guy. Good on him.

Aw good for him, I did have a suspicion he was gay in YA though.

Just out of curiosity, why did you have that suspicion? Some people always seem to be able to tell people's sexualities. I have no gaydar at all, it never occurs to me that anyone could be before they tell me... that doesn't mean that I assume they are straight, people just have no sexuality in my mind before I find out either way.

Julian Clary - I've known about since I was a very small child, I can't really remember when I found out he was gay, but it was before I knew about the stereotypes.
Rylan - I don't know who that is.
Alan Carr - didn't know he was gay before you just said.
Graham Norton - I knew he was gay, but not by the way he behaves or anything. Like with Clary, I can't really remember how I found out.

I honestly cannot tell at all unless someone tells me, even if a guy acts really camp or something. It also never occurs to me that someone might be straight until they tell me. Until I know one way or the other, I never think at all about anyone's sexuality. I myself am bisexual, so maybe I just see sexuality as a really fluid thing.

He's a former contestant on The X Factor and recent Celebrity Big Brother winner...like that's some huge accolade. Here he is not at all acting like a drama queen!

Well, I don't watch either The X Factor or Celebrity Big Brother, so not a surprise really that I don't know him. I watch the ordinary Big Brother though.

That video is funny! It looks a bit staged though... I have to say though, seeing that video would not make me think he was gay necessarily, just that he's a complete nutter!

I am watching YA2 currently and he was a brilliant candidate, it was absolutely awful that he was fired.

Agreed, Harry H is fantastic, and probably my second favourite in that series after Zara. I think the semi-finals were very unfair that series. I don't take objection to Lord Sugar firing four people, but why choose three of them purely on the basis of one task? He should have said that no matter how well each team does, all six of them will be in the final boardroom, where four people will be fired based on the competition as a whole. Although if he had done that, I don't think that it would have made a huge amount of difference to the result. Harry H might have got into the final instead of James, but I think all the other firings, and the winner, would have remained the same.

Lord Sugar had a lot of complaints about that; that's probably why in Series 3 it was changed to a four-person final, with two people being fired in the losing team on Week 7 instead of the whole losing team and one person from the winning team being fired.

Do you think Patrick from YA will also come out? The one with the backless shirts and those little panty shorts like Kylie.

In fairness, you're basing it on stereotypes, I'm pretty sure the poster was talking about generally, Harry H doesn't exhibit the same stereotypical behaviour as those you mentioned, and there are straight guys who do.

I don't know for certain one way or the other about Patrick. I don't think there is any reference to his sexuality on the Internet. He seems like quite an open chap though, so if he is gay he is probably already out even if he doesn't consider it important enough to blog about or make a video about.

Interestingly though, Patrick is the reason I discovered Harry's video in the first place. Patrick re-tweeted it.

Do you watch Young Apprentice? Because he was on that, not the main Apprentice show, so if you haven't seen YA you wouldn't remember him. If you saw that series, I'm surprised that you don't remember him. He was one of the most competent people in it,.

I thought this was going to be the other Harry. In my opinion there was never any inclination that this guy is gay but it's fantastic that he's decided to come clean. Gay people often live part of their lives bottling up their sexuality because they're too afraid of what others will think.
