Topping tp-32 amp
Hi all,
Can anyone tell me if a Topping TP-32 is capable of driving a pair of JBL Control 1 speakers. The reason i ask is that they are only rated at 10watts into 8ohms. I am aware that Topping have other amps with more power but the 32s do have a remote control which is important to me. Only to be used to improve the TV sound by connecting through a Panny Blu-Ray/HDD recorder. All comments appreciated. Thank you. |

Yes, the amp will drive the speakers. It just won't go as loud as an amp that's more powerful.
The speakers are efficient (89dB) and that's a good thing. They need only half the amp power to produce the same volume as the less efficient (86dB) Wharfedale Diamond 9.0's. The thing to watch out for when running a low power amp is distortion. A small amp has less power in reserve for those big peaks in sound from the source. If you're listening regularly with the volume up at 70%+ then you probably need a bigger amp. |
