iPhone 5

I recently got myself an iPhone 5 on o2 contact after having the blackberry phone for two years. I love the iPhone already, good features and I find it an improvement to the blackberry. However I'm having trouble with the internet on it.

I can connect to the internet fine when at home through wifi. However I can't connect to 3G very well at all when out somewhere. (It is bad where I live apparently ) but despite this, when I had my blackberry I was able to connect to the internet whenever I had signal.

I don't understand why I'm having trouble connecting to 3G on my iPhone when I had no trouble on my blackberry? Has anybody experienced the same problem? Any tips?

Wow, did you not read the first post at all. That's embarrassing.

OP, When you say you can't connect very well do you mean that you get no 3G at all (in the signal bar) or that it displays 3G but pages are very slow.

Have you checked to see if there is any maintenance work going on in your area using the O2 Status checker?

Does the 3G work in other areas better than the one you are in. Or is the 3G not working everywhere?

It could be because blackberry compress the data down and show you low data websites where as iPhones load more of the website, especially heavy websites that don't have a mobile page. Could it be that?

Oh dear, I'm so embarrassed. How can I ever show my face in these forums again? Thanks for pointing out my mistake.

It could be but tbh i doubt it would make a huge difference. Only if you're looking at desktop based websites.

Can you download speed test from the app store and see what you get on a 3G connection.

Hahahahahaha, don't worry about it mate. Happens to everyone at some point. Done that at least 3 times myself.
"I recently got myself an iPhone on O2"
"Is it on Vodafone"?
That's a classic mate and you should be proud, not embarrassed. Hahaha
Sorry, it's Friday night and it think I've hit the G&Ts a bit hard. Made my night though so thank you.

Thanks. I'm not embarrassed, my reply was sarcastic.

Devon, he took my first post a bit too seriously.

You know, I don't think he did. That's the trouble with text based communications. There's no facial expressions or body language. A simple harmless message can be read completely wrong.
At the end of the day, it's a mistake we all make. Not reading the f*****g post properly.
I think he replied with his "sarcastic" message while you were typing yours. Another forum problem.
It was funny. Lets just leave it at that.
