Johnny Allen bought it from the council for Dot and Jim.

They have no right to dictate who can and can't live there. She certainly owes them no rent

Continuity fail?

Very true, he bought the house for them ages ago.

EastEnders need to provide researchers and writers.

Maybe the council woman isn't real after all, a scam?

She didn't produce her identity card.

And your surprised why? Dot like Sharon, Ian and other legends have no backstory.

And if you cant be bothered to hire writers who know the show at least hire ones who can use youtube.

No in the end he didn't buy it. Dot was impressed when he offered and loved the idea but Jim never trusted Johnnycake and refused to let him buy it. It was an odd story, because it was ultimately pointless.

Remembering the show's history would be a start.

But they have Dots and the Slaters have always been council houses. Jim didn't let Johnny buy it in the end.

It looks like the forum members can't remember the show's history, so who cares? I was watching at the time and even I can't remember whether or not Johnny Allen bought the house.

It's not our job to continue telling the story. Everyone's different and will inevitably remember different parts of the show better or worse than others.

They might as well have made Sharon Cora's daughter then.

According to wikipedia:

Jim Branning moved in here in 1999 and when he married Dot, she moved back in too. Both own the property as Johnny Allen purchased it from the council for them in 2005.

Ah, cheers for that. And from what I know (as some DS members edit the Wikipedia articles) the editors of those pages do their research while writing articles.

Verdict: contiunity fail.

Honestly they haven't reconnect that at all. Jim wouldn't let Johnny buy it. It's always been a council house. There's been some retcons, with the Brannings and Ray, but nothing else really drastic?

People are just to obsessed with bitching about the show.
