Duffy

Hard to believe it has been five years since her debut album Rockferry, I enjoyed this album very much and there was no denying in my opinion she had talent.

Didn't really like the follow-up album thought that well, well, well song was poor. Judging by the sales it didn't really go down well with the British public either.

I think she will return in the near future despite the hiatus and I hope her next album is as good or half as good as Rockferry.

Now if Duffy had a successful second album, this forum would be full of Adele v Duffy threads, what might've been eh...

I am hoping for the same as well. I really enjoyed Rockferry era (except Rain On Your Parade, that was horrid) and even enjoyed her soundtrack song for the film, An Education. It really was a shame that Endlessly flopped, but like you said, that was pretty much because the album as a whole was just not as good. Well, Well, Well was really a poor choice for a lead single and the video didn't help much either.

There are some great tracks on Endlessly ..... but her voice is a parody of her voice on the debut album..... I think there were bad production choices made.... her voice in the second album was unprocessed in places and grated. And 'Well,Well. Well' was nauseating. But I think her heart wasnt in it, becuase she could have saved the album with follow up releases and promo: 'Endlessly; My Boy'

I wonder, is she ever going to return with a third album, anyone know? I thought Rockferry was/is an amazing album and I still listen to it a lot. Soulful, emotional, melodic and wonderfully sung and produced. But I couldn't stand her second album Endlessly. I thought the songs were awful by comparison. Very weak, nothing catchy or soulful like on the debut album. Her vocals didn't sound as smooth as on her debut either, but more squeaky instead. It was such a disappointment. No wonder it flopped! But it would be great if she returned with something good as Rockferry again. I don't mean a carbon copy of it but something of the same high standard, song writing, wise, with Bernard Butler back on board. I love his songs!

She fired both her manager & producer after "Rockferry", as she wanted to be more of a Mariah Carey type artist.

Career suicide ensued

I was pleased to see how dramatically her career went down the shitter after she unceremoniously dumped those who made her a success including Bernard Butler.

She did that Coke advert and that was the end of that.

That was terrible. It really showed up her fake singing voice too.

Well, Well, Well is up there with the worst vocals on a song ever.

What's the obsession some people have with that cola advert? It was a stupid tv commercial, that's all! What's it got to do with her actual single and album releases? I think just about every pop star has done tv commercials at some point - Britney, Madonna, Christina, Beyonce, I remember they've all done various commercials. All were a bit cheesy or corny like most adverts are. But they have nothing to do with their actual music careers. The commercials are irrelevant to their actual single and album releases! Duffy's 2nd album was really poor compared to her debut, that's why her popularity waned. It's a shame. Rockferry was fantastic and she followed it up with such a mediocre album and change in style. She did away with Bernard Butler, I still think that was her biggest mistake. That man's song writing, production and guitar playing is phenomenal and was a big part of what made Rockferry so great, imo. Still, I wish Duffy would return, team up with him again and make another album to match the greatness of Rockferry. Probably won't ever happen but it would be great!

She had talent, but sadly was NEVER going to emulate "Rockferry". "Endlessly" is an average at best album with some highlights like "My Boy" and "Girl" and "Hard For The Heart".

Sacking Bernard Butler finished her.

What is she doing now?
