I inserted the bluray disc into my bluray player and when it loaded selected 7.1 English Dolby. I then pressed up down , left and right and play and select but nothing happend. It would not play. Any suggestions?

In my experience of BD players pressing play does sod all - you almost always have to press 'select' - which is a complete bummer as people bring BD players in without the remote, and it's impossible to try them (they usually have a 'play' button on the front, but it does nothing useful).

Yes I pressed select and the up down, left right buttons and the play button but nothing. The only thing you got on the sub menu was subtitles on or off and 2.1 surround sound. Weird

Update the firmware on the player to see if that helps?
Try the disc on another Blu Ray player to see if it's a disc problem.

Sorry I did mean "select" (play on screen)
