Thought that I'd add some country to this forum

I know that it isn't that popular in the UK but I love it

The name "Country Music" is a problem as there are are so many off-shoots depending on which part of the USA your choice of music is comming from. I like "Blue Grass" as it is very basic but a million miles from the stuff in todays charts not that todays output is anything but exellent. I also have all The Mavericks and Raul Malo (solo) cds. We almost never hear the vast amount of music that the good folk in the USA hear daily. I find it very sad that here in our tiny country even our own "Folk Music" is looked down on despite it being superb.

Another country fan here! Not nearly enough of it in the UK, but Lady Antebellum and Brad Paisley come here sometimes and the festival in March at the O2 is sure to bring it some more recognition

I wouldn't say that i'm a huge fan of Country but I have have albums by The Dixie Chicks and Be Good Tanyas. I also really liked 'Springsteen' by Eric Church when I heard it on Radio2

My numer one album is "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" by Lester Flatts and Earl Scruggs. If you like "Blue Grass" then this hits the spot plus what great names, you don't get much more basic than those two.

I'm quite partial to a bit of country music. So much so that I'm going to both days of the festival at the 02, and when on holiday in Vegas in April, we're going to the ACMs. That wasn't planned around it, we just found it was happening when we are there.

I saw Carrie Underwood at the Royal Albert Hall last year, so am happy she's doing the festival next month. My mum's a big Vince Gill fan so can't wait to see him.

Couple of big US acts over here later in the year, Kacey Musgraves and The Band Perry both at small venues, which I prefer.
Tickets on ticketmaster if you're interested.

I forgot I created this thread

I'm a big fan of Kacey Musgraves after buying her album the other day. I wish artists like her and Miranda Lambert were more appreciated in the UK.

Kacey put on a great show in Manchester on Thurs. Was surprised to see her sing Miranda's "Mama's Broken Heart" but now realise Kacey wrote it!

I'm a big fan of Miranda Lambert and The House That Built Me is one of my favourite songs

I know she is a member of Pistol Annies but I've never listened to them, I need to though!

I recommend Kacey Musgraves if you haven't listened to her before

Follow Your Arrow
Blowin' Smoke

Was surprised to see her sing Miranda's "Mama's Broken Heart" but now realise Kacey wrote it!
I found that out a few days ago

Thank you for the recommendation P_P. I have to go to work now but I'll find Kacey's music tomorrow. I've been aware of her for a while but I'd never actually listened to any of her music. I have a list as long as my arm of people that I need to listen to.

P_P - Listening to Kacey's music on Spotify at the moment. She's very good. It's likely that the album will be making it's way into my collection (legally, of course). Thanks for the tip.

Happened on this thread kinda by accident and thought I'd listen to a few of the songs on there because I really don't know much about this genre of music at all. Really enjoyed the Kacey Musgraves songs - so thanks to whomever recommended that!

I don't have any of Miranda's music, but I went to the ACMs in April in Vegas, and she performed and I thought she was excellent.

Anyone planning on going to C2C next year? For Saturday, it's The Zac Brown Band, Dixie Chicks (this makes me happy!) Dierks Bentley and Martina McBride has just been announced too. And for Sunday, so far it's Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts (this also makes me happy!) and Chris Young, with the fourth act still to be announced.

I have no-one to go with but it would sound like fun.

My copy of Kacey Musgraves album arrived this morning. I'm looking forward to hearing it in full.
