Not sure what genre she should be put in these days, but I'm loving the Venus album from Joy Williams (formerly 50% of The Civil Wars).
She's wonderful, isn't she? I'm a big fan of her.

I've finally ordered my copy of "Venus" by Joy Williams. I've been listening to it a lot on Spotify lately. The wait for this album release was most definitely worth it, in my opinion.

She's wonderful.

Kellie Pickler-'100 proof', is a great Country album I enjoyed listening to it.

'Tough'
'Stop cheating on me'
'Unlock that Honkey Tonk'
I like these tracks, but to be honest, I do not dislike any of the tracks on the album.

Have you guys checked out this from Sonia Leigh?

Not typical country but she started out writing tracks for Zac Brown and is heavily involved in the Nashville scene.. You can definitely hear the influences

Chec it

Haven't had the chance to listen to it yet, but will check it out. So much music to listen to.

I've been listening to Brandy Clark's "12 Stories" album a lot since getting Apple Music recently. It's good.

I'll check out the Kellie Pickler album too.

However, there are no tracks I dislike. A really good album from Kacey. I enjoyed listening to it.

Miranda Lambert & Blake Shelton divorce after four years of marriage

Genuinely sad to read that, though there have been rumours for a while.

I was surprised when I read about this, I don't know much about them as a couple but they seemed to do a lot together, even recently. Hopefully they're both ok.

I'm listening at the moment to The Blade, the latest album from Ashley Monroe. She was in the group with Miranda Lambert (The Pistol Annies) but I prefer her voice to Miranda's.

I've never really listened to Ashley's solo music but she does have a beautiful voice.

I have listened to The Blade too, it's a brilliant album and it's great to hear another album from Ashley.

I definitely recommend listening to her, both of her albums are great

I've also been listening to Angaleena Presley from the Pistol Annies, as she released her album last year. Here's two of her songs if anyone's interested.
Pain Pills
Knocked Up

Did it come with a booklet giving the lyrics?

There is a booklet though it's in my car so I can't remember whether it contains lyrics.

My favourite album in the last year is For The Taking by Elenowen. It's difficult to put them into a particular category - some tracks are Fleetwood Mac inspired, some are similar to The Civil Wars, so Country/Folk/Pop?

Well worth a listen on Spotify - then buy the album!

I don't normally listen to country but was listening to radio 2 the other week and heard Ward Thomas' song, Town Called Ugly and liked it. I've checked out their site and YouTube and think they're pretty good.
Their latest single, Guest List, has gone straight onto the BBC Radio 2 Playlist in the A List.

^that's great news

What are your thoughts on The Shires? They are a country pop crossover duo, based in the UK. they released their debut album "Brave" earlier on this year and they have tickets on sale for a UK tour starting in October.

Some of the singles include:

Friday Night
State Lines
Nashville Grey Skies

They recently made their Opry debut too.

I saw them play a show recently and they are brilliant live.

I thought that I would like The Shires, but they don't quite do it for me. They may be better live, but I don't often go to see live music.

Ahh okay. We all have different tastes for a reason I wasn't a fan instantly, it took a couple of listens.

I've been listening to Lindi Ortega's "Cigarettes & Truckstops", Kacey Musgraves "Pageant Material" and Ashley Monroe's "The Blade" a lot lately.

I'll have to give Maddie & Tae another go. I wasn't keen on "Girl In A Country Song" if I'm honest.

I've never listened to Luke Bryan. I'll give his music a go when I've got a couple of days off.

I prefer listening to Maddie & Tae when they perform acoustically, their music can sometimes sound a little overproduced for me, which is a shame as they have good voices and can come up with some clever lyrics.

I've always thought that "Girl In A Country Song" sounded very "produced", overly so.
