I've always thought that Tim was Big Brother's first ever hate figure.
Davina never missed out on pointing out to evicted HMs that Tim was hated even when it wasn't relevant to the interview. His biggest crime was being dying his hair and having an annoying catchphrase.

The thing I remember most about Tim, was the breathtaking hypocrisy of the daily star savaging him as he allegedly made a racist 'joke'. It was the second example - after 'Nasty' Nick - of sections of the media totally screwing a housemate over, which kind of leads in to wonkeydonkeys aftercare thread.

I suppose that's true. Although the stories about his wife obviously didn't help. It was a pretty dodgy thing to lie about. Not to mention he was able to claw a certain sense of respect on the outside.
Tim was the first HM I felt was put in to be deliberately got at. He didn't actualy do anything and it was BB itself that fostered that hate.
Simply because of the media turnaround on Jade. I remember Graham Norton who had his C4 show at the time and routinely savaged Jade including making pig noises saying there was a collective sense of guilt over the media ridicule of Jade thus "we" started to champion her - but no one ever picked up the hypocricy that they simply found a new HM to ridicule.
Forgot about the nonsense that surrounded Tim in the papers. 'Big Brother's closet Ginga'
