Baxters do very good quality pickled beetroot, it has to be the right texture. I hate some supermarket own branded beetroot as it's just not right.

I can eat entire jars of baby beetroots and my husband always stocks up on them. Other people comment am i expecting because of quantity of beets i eat! I can't get enough of picked beetroot!!!yum yum yum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People that love it, what does it actually taste of for you? How would you eat it?”

straight out of the jar, I don't like my salads turning pink or occasionally i'll eat it some on the side with a sandwich but I don't like my sandwich filling turning pink.

I never cook with them. I just love them picked straight out the jar and I can eat jar fulls yum but as they're very acidic and I hav suffered from acute dypepsia at times i'd need lansoprazole to help!

the golden beetroot is even nicer than the normal one, and the stripey beetroot looks great raw in slices, but looks a bit odd after you cook it, possibly like a boiled rhinoceros testicle. Nice taste though

Where do you buy them from? are they fresh? I don't know anything about cooking beets or for how long. Are they like turnips when raw?

i grows my own from seed. they're really quite hard raw, and not related to turnips - they're related to chard or spinach beet

I cook them in a pressure cooker for maybe 20 minutes, depending on size

Why not try the fresh vacpak ones as an internediate step?

If I had time I would have been fantastic to have a vegetable patch or allotment. I don't have time to grow my own and then the dog would rip them up. I'll have to stick to buying them.

I love Baxters Baby beetroot in sweet vinegar. Great in a sandwich with spread cheese and salad cream.

You can get them from Morrisons "Fresh Market" stores, they've upgraded some of their stores to give more choice, here are the ones in Yorkshire:

There are different types. Look for the 'cooked' as they are just boiled. Most are plain. Some have flavourings. Some are cooked in vinegar ie pickled.
The Organic did seem better to me.
I got some from somewhere that were flavoured with juniper. It may have been Morrisons.

I like them with a bit of balsamic, so a bit of vinegary taste to cut the earthiness.

Thanks, i was thinking of giving it a try from the jar on your first paragraph, but i'm having second thoughts now on your second paragraph!

We have them from the allotment or vac packed ones. Boiled then sliced and served with a white sauce on Sundays. Lush!
