I'm very late to the party, but I started watching the series in March and I've just finished! Wow, that was really great I really loved it
![]() I'm confused about the ending though, can anyone tell me what did Kester mean by it was time to start therapy? Hasn't she been in therapy with him? I didn't get why she just laughed at that. I was scanning the thread and I have to side with the people who don't want that twist. Why would her mum send her to a counsellor who is secretly her dad? That would be so evil. And he doesn't seem the type to abandon a child. I wouldn't buy it. Have to also say that, since the whole series was mainly about her weight issues and self-esteem, I wasn't expecting for there to be such an emotional focus on her not knowing her dad in the last episode so it caught me off-guard and I found it emotional, as it's a subject close to my heart. The "It's not right to do that to a 7 year old" speech really got to me .Can't wait for series 2, seems like a very long time away though! ETA: I was wondering if there would be a twist with the woman who lives across from Rae. Perhaps her son is Rae's dad or something, she seemed very upset when Rae 'died'. |

I would recommend reading the book. Then you will see that none of these theories about Rae's dad are remotely plausible. Remember that it is factually based, rather than being a totally invented drama.

I would rather not have unrealistic twists just to satisfy a biological dad storyline.
I loved the show, I'm five years younger than Rae, but remembered so much from reading her book and watching the series. I'm also harbouring a mild crush on Finn, he looks a bit like a young Ian Brown who was my big 90s obsession! I don't see why he and Rae can't get together. If the only 'obstacle' was her weight I would find that quite distasteful. In TV shows we're expected to believe in vampires, angels, etc, how sad would it be if a fat girl and slim guy being in love was just too fantastical for audiences to cope with? |
