Frankie Dettori and the Newmarket Sausage....
Stefanino
19-01-2013
Born and bred in Newmarket and making the traumatic discovery upon leaving home for Uni that not all sausgaes are like those made in Newmarket, this subject is close to my heart (and stomach). Indeed, as I type, here in Italy, I am ready to fry one of the 6 packs I smuggled out of the country in January...

ANYWAY, you may remember Frankie enthusiastically telling the basement dwellers that Big Bro had provided Newmarket Sausages...

You might also remember Spencer pledging allegiance to Dictator Frankie because he "made the best Newmarket Sausages ever"...

Indeed, last year, after a decade of trying, the 2 producers involvef successfully obtained EU Protected Geographic Status (on a par with Stilton Cheese and Parma Ham etc):

So, since Frankie lives in Newmarket, I wondered if he stipulated in his contract that this wonderful sausage would be available in the BB house...and since he's Italian (and Italians are incredibly fussy about food...), if so, that means they really MUST be a gastronomic delight!

Don't knock 'em till you've tried 'em!

I LOVE sausages, and if an Italian says they are good, OMG where are they?

I missed every single reference to these sausages so thank YOU for highlighting them. Frankie makes me laugh with his excellent English expressions said with a very Italian accent.

This is true!

We sell a mountain of Powters at the courses but that doesn't mean they're his faves.

I want to know now

I think Powters have an agreement with the courses since they sponsor at least one race a year...(this was from the TV programme that was about the PG Status award...) and I like Powters a lot... but still prefer Musk's!

Are you based in Newmarket?

I like anything meaty

I live about a half hours drive from Newmarket, nearer to Haverhill. I've worked at the courses for the past three seasons though and I've been to many meets outside work too.

It's a lovely part of the world!
