Had Infinity 2 for 9 months now and absolutely no problems with consistent (average) speeds using the BT speed test of:

74.5 Down
15.4 Up

IP profile set at 76.2 down / 18.5 up

Saturday evening and the broadband went off for about 20 mins but re-sync'd ok. However, following 2 reboots of the modem and hub I am only getting:

41.7 down
12.6 up

All tests were done wired to the hub.

Question is why? There are no faults anywhere in my area and according to BT the connections are ok.

Would just be interested thats all.

Thank you.

Speed drops have been happening to me since before christmas. As soon as peak time hits my speed drops from 78meg download and 16 meg upload down to 10 meg download and 15 meg upload and this is also wired.

BT have been doing tests and having an engineer vist which did find a fault on my line, but still has not cure the download speed problem. These tests were done after I contacted the ceo's office because their customer service didn't have a clue what the hell I was on about and just wouldn't help.

My line profile has gone down by over 1/3rd and that is unacceptable when there is no apparent reason.

I am regretting cancelling Virgin (yes thats correct) at least they were stable

What speed were you getting and what were you quoted when you ordered it? People will experience speed drops if the BTw checker says a line can max out at 60Mb but currently sync at 80Mb because of crosstalk as more customers change to a fibre connection.

When I ordered I was quoted 69/20.

When the engineer arrived he said i was up around 79/18. My ip profile was set at 76/18 and remained at that until this weekend.

Now, having checked again it is set at 49.92/20.0 with (5 mins ago) a speed of 38.8/15.4

Are you saying then that my connection has dropped because of more connection?

It can and will drop as the cabinet fills up. Openreach are looking at implementing vectoring to combat this, but that's a while off yet. A worst, your speed should only drop down to what you were quoted though. It sounds as if there could be an underlying fault, possibly worsened by the weather conditions.

Don't bother with getting in touch with customer services, I know they are useless. Just drop an e-mail to this the ceo ian.livingston@bt.com. Explain the problems you are having and he will get somebody on the phone to help you from his department. This is what I have done and they are keeping me in the loop about what is happening to find out why my speed drops dramatically when it hits peak time. It might take a day or two to get in touch with you about the problem.

Funny some of you should post this but once in a while I have notice the same with my BT Infinity 2. At times I get a steady 74.9mb. Then once in a while my speed seems to go down to between 55.2mb and 63.7mb for a day or two.

I've only had BT Infinity 2 for a couple of weeks. First couple of days my download speed was 70 which then dropped to 55 then 40. Now it's permanently running at 37 and that's only when it's not regularly dropping out altogether. Wish I'd never switched from BT Total Broadband which was much slower but always reliable.

Over this evening my average speeds have been 36/14.

It has NEVER been this low and I have never suffered speed reductions during the last 9 months.

Losing broadband link all day and BT's India call centre have drawn a blank so it's a personal BT Engineer Visit next

I have just done a speed check and my speed this morning has dropped from 77/15 down to 25/14. This is getting bad. BT are going to have to sort this problem out and it drops down to ADSL level on a night time which is even worse.

I have had a reply from BT confirming my line speed has dropped 25% over the last week indicating an engineer visit is needed. Interestingly though the connection today is very slow and keeps going off

i got the same problems now as well and not happy with at all very upset that something like this cant be sorted because they say speed is still good and reported fault and 49mb is still ok but over last month or so i have lost over 1/3 of my speed

install sat end of nov 2012 was given estimated speed 68/20
Eng comes out and said i was so close to green box and DB was very low and was given ip profiles of 79/20 and has stayed like that for well over 6 months at least

over last month it has dropped from 78 to 79 down to 70 then 65 then 62 then 60 and now at 57/20 ip profile and still going lower
i'm not a person to keep resetting my box and make it go even lower
so atm im at 57/20 ip profile and speed tests coming back are
bt wholesale site of 49/14 and speedtest.net 49.82/15.14
that is well over a 3rd of my speed lost in a month and is not coming back up
i could understand it if i keep resetting my box and i dont i leave it going for weeks of a time if needed

There must be some way DLM could be reset or something ?
if i know my speed was going to drop that much i would of not paid the extra to go with bt i would of gone with another provider if this was going to be a problem
don't get me wrong BT are really good when your out and about there is so much BT WiFi out there it has been awesome on that side for sure

i will post on BT help link and see what can be done about it

Around 6.30pm yesterday evening I downloaded a game update of the Playstation Store. It was 2060MB and took roughly 7 minutes to download.

I think that's quite a decent speed I got for that time of day. I'm on the BT Infinity x2.

What do you actually do that makes the drop noticeable? Are you streaming, downloading?
