http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-...one-5s-1126347
Sounds somewhat bizarre, but will apparently launch with the 5S and will sport a 4.8 inch screen. In addition there will be a third handset released in 2013. All just rumours at this stage though. Strange name. |

apple explained in a series of adverts when the iP5 was released how it was impossible to use a device with a screen bigger than the exact dimensions of the iP5 |

I may have this wrong, but aren't ipad mini's outselling the ipad 4? So maybe with the rise in popularity of screens that are 4 inch plus, Apple have to get in that kind of company, or else risk being frozen out. Also you can't wait on these things, if you spot a trend, you have to act, or else it's too late. |

Well, don't know about this rumour, but it would make sense if Apple do plan to release something bigger. I think based on current trends people are starting to favour big screen devices. Probably because people are making less phone calls in the traditional sense, and communicating via facebook, whatsapp etc. In these situations, bigger screens are useful. Phones are more, media devices these days and better specs, faster mobile internet speeds, people will likely stream more video, use the web more, a bigger screen is better for such activities.
Perhaps Apple realize this and have to follow suit, just like they had to release a smaller ipad, because the 7 inch tablet solutions are doing well. I may have this wrong, but aren't ipad mini's outselling the ipad 4? So maybe with the rise in popularity of screens that are 4 inch plus, Apple have to get in that kind of company, or else risk being frozen out. Also you can't wait on these things, if you spot a trend, you have to act, or else it's too late. this is mostly interesting because like with the iPad mini it's apple reacting to market pressure. where as previously they've always been able to define a sector. "Oh my sir, what big hands you have!"
"All the better to use a big mobile phone with!" ![]() I have average size hands and even my Mrs can type texts on her S3 with 1 hand and she has quite small hands. Just marketing BS from apple really. |

Whatever they do, they will never release a phone called iPhone Math because it just sounds retarded and doesn't mean anything (eg: iPad Mini was because it was small, iPhone 3GS was 3G and 'speedy' and iPhone 4S had Siri). We probably wont get legitimate leaks until around March anyways...

I think he was pointing out the adverts saying that the iPhone 5 was perfectly measured to allow you to reach across with your thumb (basing the logic that all Apple users have exactly the same sized hands - and wear matching turtlenecks
).... and before i get ripped to shreds the last bit WAS is jest ![]() I cant recall the exact wording but that was defintiely the impression given by the advert. |

They better not release it as judging by the posts on here no one would buy such a device the 4s sorry 5 is perfect ....
Either that or it will sell millions |

I think the impression given was that the ip5 is the right size to use with one hand, I don't think they mentioned other phones at all.

Actually they do. By referring to their product as having the perfect size, they are indirectly saying other phones are far to big.

My beef with 'iPad Math' is that the name simply doesn't make sense. What is it calculating? I think a larger screen iPhone with the same aspect ratio as the 4 or 4S would be sensible though. My iPhone 4 is fine but I do sometimes wish there was a little more screen real estate. I am though not a fan of the elongated iPhone 5 screen. I'm more looking forward to iOS 6 to see if Mr Ive can claw back some UI dignity from the now venerable but messed about with iOS. |

Apple really are just copying now then following on from the iPad Mini, contradicting what they've said in the past.
No more innovation from Apple, just follow the crowd. |

I wonder if Apple will bite the bullet and concede that having a couple of resolutions and the same aspect size all round, however nice it might be for the developers, doesn't cut it any more.
Already with the 5 (and quite a few reports that developers haven't been quick to fill in those extra pixels), the ipad mini unlikely to stick with its sub-par resolution, but highly unlikely to go up to the full ipad resolution... |

I thought an iPad Mini Retina for spring was pretty obvious.

a better resolution, certainly, but I'm not sure they'll jump up to an industry leading 2048 x 1536 on an 8" screen. Particularly as part of the draw of the mini is that it's cheaper than its big brother.
