Mobile upgrade time has arrived. Anyone got any idea when the next Nokia Phone will be launched I'm currently using the N8, the Lumia 920 is tempting, a stunning looking handset a better camera would make it perfect though. PS size, weight, thickness and lack of elf yourself apps not an issue but I want to stay with Nokia for Satnav and Camera reasons.

Nokia have not announced any successors yet to the Lumia 920.
Why not go with a different brand other than Nokia? Nokia aren't the same company they used to be tbh. Other brands like Sony have much better camera phones and there is a huge selection of free/paid sat navs on Android/iOS operating systems.

He asked about Nokia didn't he. There is a lot to be said for the 920, the sat nav is excellent on Nokia. The camera is great too. And they can't make them fast enough. Presumably you've had a go on one in order that you recommend a Sony instead?

He did. He also said it was upgrade time and asked about future nokia phones. I just stated that there are none that have been announced or coming out soon and that he should also consider other phones as there will be no new Nokia phone to upgrade too.
I have to agree, the sat nav is great on Nokia phones. But the camera can easily be beaten by a few smartphones on the market at the moment. Also Android/iOS have a huge number of sat nav apps with many of them offering the same functionality as Nokia Drive.
I've used a 920 before. it's a good phone but you may find it a bit pricey compared to other, better phones on the market.

Out of interest - which phones are better that are available now?
Also I thought I'd read a review of the 920 which stated the camera was the best out of all the modern phones due to the lens?

it is. in my opinion at least. it has an optically stabilised lens and a huge sensor.
There were rumours about Lumia 920 with aluminium cover which would make it lighter. But truth be told, even 920 with polycarbonate cover isn't that heavy and it rather feels more solid and serious than too heavy to carry around. And battery, proper lens and stabilisers and whatnot have to weigh something too, anyway. If you want WP8 phone, this one is the best ATM and even better than a lot of other OSs competition. I can only recommend it.

I've never understood the fascination with light phones. has anyone ever picked up a phone and found it to be too heavy?
and when your battery is flat at 3pm how many people wouldn't trade an extra 10g for a bigger battery.

Agreed - I've just got one after having an Iphone 4S and I really like it. A solid, high quality device with a good, fast operating system. I don't notice the weight difference and certainly don't find it too heavy.
The only drawback is the smaller number of apps available for WP, though I suspect that may change given the amount of 'chatter' there's been about this phone and WP8 in general.
I have heard a lot of people saying how good this phone is - indeed, on reading a lot of review sites I think its quite telling that the user reviews are overall more positive than the 'professional' reviews - maybe a bit of anti-WP/anti-Nokia bias on the part of the industry?
I think there might be a bias from certain people, but I think there's also a general problem with new things. One has expectations from past experiences how things should work and if they don't then some don't have a patience to find how the things do work.
As for apps I only use a few and I have everything I need, so I am not a typical user. My old Shopping List app that I wrote for WP7.5 works for WP8, too, so that's me happy
Also it's worth following Nokia app offers, a few days ago they offered 2 Disney games for WP8 for free.

Looks like Nokia to announce new WINDOWS PHONE devices at Mobile World Congress next month. Possibly another six new devices this year... I think it likely as Elop did say they would be increase the speed of new devices coming to market over time which I think is something they must do to get back in the game!!!
