Displaying photos on the Viera

I have a couple of pictures I want to show someone so thought I would display on the Viera.

I already use the USB connection for a hard disc so copied to a SD card are stuck in the slot at the side. It sees two files there but does not display the file name. I thought it might not like JPG to changed to JPEG but still the same.

It displays the filename and size when I select INFO but just a question mark in icon.

Am I overlooking something?

Are you sure the file format is really JPG? It is not enough just to make the file extension .jpg or jpeg. Try downloading a couple of .jpg pictures from the Internet and see if they display.

I was waiting for some visitors last night so did not have a lot of time for experimentation but that could be the reason so will do some tests with different types of files.

I ended up uploading to PICASA then accessing that.

Also have a read of the manual (if you've not filed it in the bin ). It could be that the TV is also picky about the exact format of the images. There might be a restriction on resolution for example. Hopefully the manual will have a list of supported formats.

Fortunately still have it! Also have the PDF version on the PC just in case I can't find the paper copy.

The pictures that I had the problems with had been taken on a mobile phone and EMailed to me.

Tonight I exported them to a JPG using IrfanView and did the same for another couple of RAW images taken on a proper camera. All display without any problem on the Viera but no idea why it does not like the JPG files straight the mobile phone.
