From the creator of The Cube, which you might have guessed from the slow-motion idea! They seem to like making gameshows that use a bit of technology.

Why Shane Richie, though? Sounds like it could maybe be fun - hopefully they made a pilot to get an idea of how it will play out! But this kind of thing seems increasingly hard to get away on a Saturday night.

BBC1 has given the greenlight to Reflex, a gameshow which will test the reactions of contestants as they take part in challenges which include diving headfirst through glass panels.
What could possibly go wrong?

Not that This Morning was pleased to win the trophy last night but I counted footage of them getting the award last night (or indeed the year before and also the year before that even!) around five times during the first half hour or so of today's show - which came over as just a tad like a love in.

Mind you that X factor Johnny whatsit trying to get himself a part on Downton, Strictly and half the shows that won in TMs behind the scenes footage of last night was amusingly desperate.

Still I guess they are all entitled to be happy.

But I thought The Chase deserved to win.

It's a bit like Terry Wogan winning one category every year for a decade or more at some TV awards ceremony in the 1970s/1980s. I can't remember what the awards were called. TV Times Awards, possibly.
Indeed, the TV Times Top Ten Awards, Wogan won Most Popular Male Personality at least ten times. The NTAs are really the modern equivalent of that, though I do have some TVTs from the early eighties and in one of them, when they invite readers to vote, they point out you can't vote for Eamonn Andrews, Benny Hill, Violet Carson or Morecambe and Wise as they're already in the TV Times Hall of Fame.

The best ever TV Times awards was in, I think, 1984 when Brucie was presenting where he forgot the final award and starting saying goodbye, although he remembered before he actually finished and tried to make it look like it was delibrate. The following year they were presented by Ernie Wise, one of his first solo gigs.
The TV Times Awards were fun and I remember that when somebody won the award 10 times they were taken out of the running and put in the Hall Of Fame

Maybe they could look at it again next year and do something a bit different. Dermot is a little bland in the role of presenter (The Golden Globes has genuinely hilarious presenters who make it worth watching even if you're not too interested in the outcome of the awards) and the setting of the O2 does nothing for me whatsoever.
They've always been an awful programme, though. I've said this before but the first ones, in 1995, were presented by Eamonn Holmes and the next day on The Big Breakfast I remember Cheggers and Paul O'Grady slagging them off, saying they were a boring show and Holmes was a rubbish host. So it's been hopeless since day one. I don't have any issue one way or the other with who wins them, though, it's an award ceremony for people who read What's On TV and watch the soaps. They can co-exist with the BAFTAs.
Dermot O'Leary is incredibly bland but he'sMr Personality compared to Trevor McDonald. So dull and lifeless as a host I swear that in the commercial breaks they checked for Trevor's pulse. The NTAs have always been a crap show, stopped watching years ago and record to see the winner's speeches.

Re: ads on ITV. If the shows are good enough the ads don't matter - they only begin to be quoted as a factor when shows are underperforming.

With that said though ITV should use the limitations on ads in primetime to their advantage and where appropriate be willing to drop them. For example this year they can afford to drop one ad break from the main Dancing on Ice performance show which would help the structure of the show a lot, or in the autumn they could take advantage of the usually ad free early evening schedule to air some uninterupted family movies against Strictly (something they could also do at midnight at least once a week).

The issue with both those examples seems to be more about sponsorship than advertising, though I'm sure with uninterupted movies at least if the sponsor is credited in the trailers ("The Saturday night family movie - bought to you uninterupted by ...", the sponsor would get more brand awareness than they currently do.

Similar deals for first episodes of regular dramas could work too.

The Chase was robbed!

But in terms of This Morning desperation nothing can top the shameless "please vote for us" video packages that they did last year. They truly MUST be seen to be believed!

They already have a super slow-mo Saturday night show - it's called In it to Win It where we see people take two minutes over questions that can be answered in a split second.

The only reason they win is because they relentlessly bang on about viewers voting for them for weeks leading upto the event.

I guess Schofe and co have to take any success when they can as they aren't getting much success in the ratings, especially when the show is beaten by every single daytime show on BBC1.

CBB: 2.06m (8.5%)

NTA's clearly had an effect IMO as the first hour rated quite low for this series' standards, before returning to normal levels from 21:55 onwards.

Bit On The Side did well with 859k (6.2%).
What was CBB's +1 figure?

Channel 5 coming very soon. I might do 5* for a change as well.

Thank you. What was the peak of CBB on Channel 5 and the average between 10pm and 10:30pm?
For peak see the C5 round-up in a mo. Average between 22:00 and 22:30: 1.99m (9.65%) exc +1; 2.19m (10.6%) inc +1.

EDIT: I may as well give the peaks now as I'm looking at them:

21:00 - Celebrity Big Brother: Live Eviction: 1.84m (7.6%), inc +1: 2.06m (8.5%)
* peak audience and share exc +1: 2.24m (11.3%) at 22:15
* peak audience inc +1: 2.50m (9.8%) at 21:55
* peak share inc +1: 12.3% (2.45m) at 22:15

I see Strictly beat TXF at the highly respected gold standard NTAs.

Yog - any updates on how Midwife, Miranda and Mrs Brown are consolidating?

14k (0.1%)

Benchmark share for that channel in that timeslot is 0.4% so a bitterly disappointing start for that one.

The trailers didn't look funny to me. A poor man's Seinfeld, it seemed to be. And it was trailed to death, not getting any funnier each time.

I'm still getting over the fact that FOX (previously FX) now airs The Ricki Lake Show.

And looking at the numbers for Ricki, they've most certainly misunderstood what their audience wants/expects.

Ouch. Painful. It's so late to the game, though, I imagine anyone even vaguely interested will have downloaded or imported DVDs at this stage.
