For me it doesn't make sense having shows like Downton Abbey and Mr Selfridge open and close with 90 minute episodes which at little extra cost could easily be expanded to two 60 minute episodes, filling the schedule for an extra couple of weeks.

I saw that rugby-affected schedule and assumed a 45-minute replacement had been found for AA and SS (as I doubt they would put a 15-minute filler there just so that they could air one of them), but there is the possibility of a 45-minute extended version of either.

EDIT: so it's a repeat of Pointless Celebs (or just ordinary Pointless? Digiguide not clear). Will do far better than what it replaced, and provide a better lead-in for B's B.

The first four episodes of Britain's Brightest (the heats) are 75 mins.

The runners-up semi final (4 contestants) and the final (5 contestants) are 60 minutes.

This for 2nd February? Well, Secret Service was only meant for six episodes. Maybe Hammond should really stick to Top Gear - although I don't see what was wrong with Total Wipeout. Maybe it would have been less pressure for them when it comes to ratings if they scheduled it no later than 5pm on a Saturday.

Hardly, you might have a point if they were flinging the two existing shows off despite being billed in the TV guides, inconveniencing viewers, and you may have a point if the shows they were flinging off were part of a continuing series where their loyal audience would be annoyed if they were removed before they reached their conclusion. But they're not, they're two LE shows which can be watched in any order at any time and which are getting low ratings and AI figures.

The replacement will be billed in advance, so as far as most viewers are concerned, Secret Service and Animal Antics have finished, and it's certainly their prerogative to rearrange their schedule if it's not working.

Interesting that Britain's Brightest actually gets shorter as it goes on. Not really sure they needed the extra fifteen minutes.

The 2nd Feb edition of Britains Brightest is the play off between the runners up of each show. Therefore the contestants have already been introduced.

A 45 minute slot between the rugby and Britain's Brightest? That was definitely meant for Secret Service.

Animal Antics will probably be scheduled as was always intended taking weeks off when the rugby is on.

Why didn't they just air the NTAs between 7.30pm-10pm tonight? OK, I know they're live, but I'm sure they could have booked the hall a night earlier. Added to that, it means Emmerdale will be hit by a clash and Coronation Street has moved to 7pm - and ITV didn't even bother to promote it after Emmerdale tonight. Considering it's running on from yesterday you'd think they'd push it more.

Because the NTA's should rate better on a Wednesday than a Tuesday?
