It can't have done that badly ratings wise if they kept it going for 4 series, it came to a pretty natural end rather than being strung out for too long like Allo Allo, Hi-De-Hi or the train wreck that was the last few years of Are You Being Served.”

Televisions Greatest Hits only has one entry for YRML which has 12.3 million in Feb 1990 at Sunday 7.15, but only two weeks in the top twenty-iirc it hovered around 10 million for most of its life getting just enough presumably for it to carry on.
Are You Being Served may have lost something by 1985 but was pulling 14 million audiences right up to the last series.

I find that interesting, but then again I do watch a lot of tv ”

Thanks Mike.

TV viewing being up is interesting. More choice this year perhaps?

Really scraped the barrel last year and to me is now very lazy uninspired tv imo.

It was good though when it started.

They need to do iconic pop videos we all know and love, even if done before in earlier series, rather than the latest from Dizzy Rascal that only a few 14 year old boys have seen.

It beats Secret Service or Britain's Brightest, of course...

I think it's more to do with people being stuck indoors by the snow. Generally viewing over 30 hours is seen at Christmas, when lots of families are together.

I think the snow fall 'brought people together' - though not necessarily by choice

I wish BBC would bring back Comic Relief Does Fame Academy, the dubious reasons for scrapping the main show looks weak now they're showing The Voice.

Which means they should be able to bring back CRDFA, much more fun that Let's Dance

Yep I dunno why he decided that was his best work in a tribute programme he does confess to making it his favourite but I think he felt it had some seriousness to it. (Where I would say dads army had more dramatic moments. ) It was an odd sitcom neither funny nor dramatic or believable characters.

I see Selfridge did nose in front of Ripper on consolidation, but 6.98m is not what ITV were hoping for.

Ripper still getting 6.95m is quite impressive though given how we all expected that to fall after the disappointing first episode.

Interestingly, Mr Selfridge has only dropped 6.8% from episode 1 to 3 in the HD chart and from 3rd to 6th place.

In the SD chart it's dropped from 4th to 14th and the audience by 19.6%.

Not true, Dancing on Ice had 7.53m consolidated (with HD added, but not including +1).

Just ignore it. I have a question for you. Does BARB publish a top 100 programmes of the year list?

Big order for The Chase.

Quote:
“ITV daytime has made its biggest ever order, commissioning 324 episodes of hit daytime game show The Chase.

The broadcaster has ordered two massive 150 x 60 minute runs of series seven and eight of the ITV Studio-produced quiz show, along with 24 celebrity specials, which have previously aired in the 6pm slot.

Series six of The Chase also saw 150 parts commissioned, while series five ran to 120 episodes.

The show, which airs daily at 5pm slot, has helped to boost the slot average by 1.1m, a year on year increase of 39%.”

I took the above figures in good faith.

I thought it looked even lower than it is!

Wow at that enormous commission for The Chase (is it a record?) (300 standard episodes = 60 weeks and 24 prime time(?) celeb specials - though I dread to think who ITV will regard as a celeb by number 24 of these!)

Well deserved, of course, but a huge risk of killing the golden goose.

BTW on This Morning today Phil had several digs at Ally Ross and his predicted reaction to their utterly bonkers item on a psychic telling your character and future by the shape of your belly button.

Even Phil struggled to hide his incredulity at that one.

no, there's only the top ten of the year (within TV Facts section of Resources)

I guess their thinking is if people really want that they can work it out from the weekly data (however time consuming)

Just noticed that The One Show is now being repeated on BBC2 at 1 pm on weekday afternoons.
