60 minute anniversary special confirmed, anniversary plans revealed
https://twitter.com/BlogtorWho/statu...771584/photo/1
Include a one hour special, An Adventure in Space and Time and 11 part 25 minute "Doctor Who Revisted" programme airing throughout the year. Assuming that means there is only one anniversary special in-show, I hope there's a LOT more planned than that outside of it. |

It would seem so, the BBC doesnt reveal the whole year's schedule in January, the only reason to reveal the revisited programme is that it will be on soon-ish if it's going to be spread out throughout the year, meaning they would have to list the first episode as 1/11. Then they might as well explain that its going to be spread out to avoid confusion about air dates.

Could Doctor Who Revisited be the same as BBCAmerica's The Doctors Revisited?

Might just be me but I'm most interested in the Further Activity section (primarily because I'm more than happy to take whatever Who on TV we can get). Doctor per month retail campaigns could be good for getting some of the classic stuff on discount (if that's the route they go of course) and the Science Museum stuff might be worth a look. The big one though is surely that "Monthly BFI Screenings and Q&A" item... that could get very oversubscribed very quickly depending on what they put on.
More than happy with that as a 50th anniversary tally to be honest, good mix of events and new content with (I'm fairly sure) a fair number of non-BBC events such as Return to the 11th Hour to supplement the official stuff. |

Still hoping for a Christmas special though.
Surprised the 50th is only a 60 minute episode. Can't wait to see it though. |

Other way round. Adventure in Space and Time is the biopic type thing. It's already been announced as the title.
Wouldn't assume this is everything they've got planned. There's not a Christmas special mentioned, doesn't necessarily mean we're not getting one. Also not mentioned the Pointless special we know is happening. If they've got more planned, I don't think a toy fair's where they'd choose to announce it. Series 8 Part 1 looks that little bit more doubtful now, though. Still! Looks like a good year. I'm excited. |

Still should be other stuff on TV though that may just be the things like the Pointless DW special. 11 x 25 episodes for Doctor Who Revisited is odd, are they just showing one episode per Doctor (half an episode for the later ones). Or are these actual programmes looking at each Doctor. Edit Actually could these Doctor Who Revisited 25 min programmes actually be new episodes? It has been sugested before that having short minisodes of previous Doctors would be better than trying to fit them all into one Special. |

Total televised Who this year: 13 hours 25 minutes. (so far)
Total during last "normal" year*: 10/11 hours. We're getting more Who than ever! ![]() *i.e 2011 when we had series 6 + christmas special in the same year |

Oh! Yes, I've suggested that! That... would be interesting! It can't just be repeats of the classic episodes, or they wouldn't call it that, would they? I was imagining the Revisiteds as talking heads shows, myself, using the Doctor Who Confidential team perhaps. I hope you're right, though.

BBCA anounced a similar titled series a while back but they were 2 hours long and now seem to be showings of actual stories. It may just be that the BBCA stuff consists of this 25 min Talking Head show and a story from each Doctor. |

Not this year, there's no time for it. My guess (or hope) is filming towards the end of this year and continuing into 2014 for summer/ autumn transmission?
On GB they are discussing the possibility that they have iether a) not announced the christmas special etc yet but will do in the future or b) won't have a christmas special because we will have a new doctor for series 8, and they feel waiting til series 8 to meet the new Doctor would be the best thing to do. |

I still think even regardless of having a new Doctor or not, we'll get Christmas 2013.

As for the 11 "Doctor Who Revisited" programmes ...... Why specifically 25 mins and not half an hour? Could we be getting a classic series style ep for each Doctor? |

The Revisited things seem more like Confidential type shows than actual episodes to me. |

I think/hope Series 8 starts filming towards the end of this year and we see it in full from September 2014.
It'll definitely air in 2014, though whether or not it'll be all of it or broken in half, I don't know. But this is only guesswork on my part. |

Depends somewhat on when (or if) Matt wants to leave IMO.
I could easily see them ending the Anniversary or Christmas Special with the start of a regeneration but not actually cast a new Doctor till 2014 and having his first series in Autumn 2014. If on the otherhand Matt is staying on for Series 8 they may start filming it this year and show (at least partly) in Spring 2014. |

I'm very relieved that we have some firm plans and commitments now.
A 25 min format for a documentary ?? why not 30 mins ??, 45 mins or 60 mins ?? which would be needed to do each Doc justice. I'd say the 25 mins format is a good indicator these are old episodes. We can always email Maxine Lister at the BBC for more details.
