T-Mobile sim problem

Hope this doesn't get too confussing, Firstly i just bought a siemens sl55 on T-Mobile for my girlfriend, she has used her
old T-Mobile sim as she wanted to keep her same number and it all works perfect. The problem lies here, i have a Motorola V600 which is unlocked, the new T-Mobile sim (which came with the Siemens) only partly works, it will recieve calls but wont dial out (says the system is busy or something) when i try to dial 150 i get through to T-mobile it rings for a while, i get the automated voice saying "Welcome to T-Moble, your account can not bo found please try again later". Tried the sim card in the old Nokia 3410 which my girlfriend was using on T-Mobile and it does exactly the same as the Motorola..... I was thinking it may be to do with credit, but i cant get through to 150 to check, although the Siemens with the old card get through to 150......... Any ideas..??????

if the sim has any credit on it send a text from that sim and then try it. I think it needs to be activated by sending a text or charable call
